After a while of simply sitting in silence within Vanessa’s room and fiddling around on their phones, Allison eventually came to her senses enough to comprehend exactly what was happening,
“Ness, you alright?”
she questioned though no response came from the slouching teenager with the monochrome expression,
“What is the time, Allison?”
Allison tilted her head to Vanessa’s question and glanced to the digital clock she had beside the bed,

“It’s 6 p.m.”
she spoke before locking eyes with the dull-gazed girl,
“Why?”
Vanessa looked to her closet, not looking to answer her question anytime soon,
“I start work at seven.”
Allison gasped,
“Oh! Yeah, that’s right. I’ll let you get changed.”
She spoke before hearing Vanessa’s mother chime up,
“Hey Allison, considering I know you have been drinking it is alright if you wanted to stay at ours for the night and go home tomorrow. I don’t want you getting into an accident.”
Allison smiled as she heard this,
“Thankyou so much, Ms. Rivers!”
she spoke before getting up and heading downstairs, she knew better than anyone that she had might as well sleep on the couch and luckily Vanessa’s grandmother was already helping her out. Allison did recall meeting her grandmother a few years back, she had been a family friend for a while so she had met most of Vanessa’s family but she also knew of some of their issues, such as the lack of a father figure in Vanessa’s life, the only male family member she could count on was her grandfather and he was a pretty cool guy last time Allison met him, he was just hardly home due to his job. She then saw Vanessa emerge from her room in uniform, watching her catch the car keys her mother tossed to her.
“Please be careful, Vanessa. Have a good night at work, honey!”
Her mother called out, only getting a hum in response from Vanessa who still had a blank face as she shut the door. The sound of the mother’s car could be heard starting up and driving off.
