It wasn’t long before footsteps could then be heard, Allison felt the warmest of tears paving down her cheeks with Vanessa not that far behind with making her own river. The thuds of feet seemingly deafening against the deadly silence of the rest of the house. It was only then when there was the sound of a car pulling up to the house and a voice she recognized,

“I’m back from my business trip, honey!”

He called, Vanessa felt herself shake as the footsteps stopped altogether in that moment. Her grandfather was back and she had no way of warning him, she accidentally squeaked out in fear which jolted Allison, meeting each other’s eyes in an understanding manner of the danger they were in.

After a moment Vanessa stood up which caused Allison to grab her sleeve,

“Are you stupid? Vanessa... They are still here, you don’t know what weapons they might have. Big chance you could die.”

Allison whispered, shooting her with a reality check. Vanessa teared up and whimpered shortly afterwards,

“Alli, I can’t just let this guy kill my grandfather... I can’t, he needs to know.”

She cried before hesitantly crawling her way towards her locked door with a shake breath while peeking through the small space under her door to see if there was anything yet nothing. She took a deep breath and opened the door, screaming out instantly,

“There is someone in the house!”.

Her grandfather instantly went onto alert and ran up the stairs but didn’t make it far, feeling a whip of air then a sharp pain through his back, Vanessa witnessed this and screamed at the top of her lungs while he dropped to his knees and then dropped forward onto the floor. A glistening knife prominent in his back,

“Get back!.. Into the room!”

he managed to yell out through a strained voice, trying to look back to whoever attacked.
