"I'll go check it out." Cal stood up, hands shaking.
"I've dealt with this sh*t before, I got it." Bastry stood up as well, but this time Cal stopped them.
"No. If something happens to you.. I won't forgive myself. Besides, I'm built like a f*cking tank." Bastry was forced to sit back down by Cal, who then took a jacket and headed outside.
After about 5 minutes, Bastry stood up and went to leave as well, when a shouting was heard from outside. This made the whole group hold their breaths, but Bastry was out of the door in a second. The remainders heard their voice added to the yelling, then it got closer to the back door.
"That door's locked... right?" Alexander went to go see. It wasn't, so he locked it and returned to the living room. The noises outside stopped.
Then, there was a scream and the lights went out.
Andrew was the first out of the back door, smelling it first. It was a burnt smell, like something was cooking for too long.
Then followed Geoff, Alexander and Antoinette. Antoinette turned back into the cabin, tears streaming down her face as she blocked the other girls from seeing what was burnt. From seeing what made the lights go out.
"Cal, what happened??!"
Cal stood, his hand on the switch to the small power plant, but he was too late.
Bastry fell on top of the dangerous electrical output, right where a stray wire happened to be dangling in the rain.
Cal couldn't move, he couldn't speak, and he definitely couldn't breathe right now.
It was supposed to be him.
It was supposed to be him.
It was supposed to be HIM.

PoetryEveryone has dreams and this story just so happens to be based off of one of mine where I found a dead man laying in a box that had a generator in it.
