Cal woke early the next morning, about the same time he did the day before. He walked out to the living room after laying on his bed for a good thirty minutes, but something was off.
Cal didn't notice it at the time, he was busy looking for something to drink. Nothing seemed to be working, and Cal would have to go to the small power plant in the back to turn the water back on. To turn the water on. To turn everything on.
But he couldn't muster the strength to do that, so he went to that room and tried to find his bag.. But then he realized what was off.
Nothing was in the room. In fact, nothing was in the cabin itself. Cal went from the room to the living room and then the kitchen, searching for any signs of life.
Did everyone go home? After feeling so horrible about what happened?
A snore from one of the other rooms answered his question.
No, they were still here.
"..Cal?" Antoinette's sweet voice drifted into the air, so he turned to look at her.
"Yeah..?" Cal was still recovering from the shock of yesterday, so his brain wasn't fully working properly. Even though he was able to process his stuff was missing, Cal couldn't wrap his head around the fact that everything was missing.
"Where the hell is everything at?" Antoinette started looking around the kitchen as Monroe and Geoff joined the two of them.
"Hey man, did you hide our..." Geoff's eyes widened and he stopped mid yawn as he realized not only was his sh*t missing, but everything was. "Alright. So maybe someone robbed us."
"Impossible. The alarm would have went off."
"No generator." Monroe's face started going a little pale as she started looking for possible reasons as to why someone would rob them, not including the fact that someone wanted them dead.
"The doors are locked. So are the windows. How could anyone have gotten in?" Andrew now joined the group, butting in on the conversation. He then went over to the counter and leaned on it, but jumped up fast as hell.
"Woah- chill man!" Andrew glared at Geoff as he wiped his hand off on his hoodie. Some light colored stuff was left after he wiped his hand, then he tried to wipe that off.
"I could have sworn I cleaned that counter at least ten times. Who the fuck fucked it up again." Andrew was mumbling to himself, but Cal started becoming extremely curious, so he went over to the counter and swiped his finger across it, gathering a hell of a lot more dust than one night's worth.
"..."
"Cal, you shouldn't be awake yet." Minx came out and joined the others, wiping the tiredness of sleep and pain away."And you shouldn't be bossing me around yet. Too early." Minx looked around finally, confusion setting in.
"Where's everything at?"
"That's what we're trying to find out. Geoff's theory is someone robbed us. Andrew's theory is..." Antoinette turned to her friend, a puzzled look on her face.
"I'm not sure what my theory is yet."
"What are you talking about, Andrew? Antoinette?" Jaime joined them too, yawning and stretching, her back popping in the process. A few cringed, but it just made Cal want to stretch as well. In doing so, loud cracks could be head running along his spine. It was disgusting, but a huge relief to Cal.
"The windows are locked, so are the doors. The counters are covered in dust and-" Monroe sneezed as she went to examine the dust, then fell back as she kept sneezing.
"What time even is it?" Minx tried to look at the clock, but then realized it wouldn't work without the generator.
"Hold on, let me check my phone."
"I got it." Andrew pulled his phone out, looking at the time.
"It's seven right now." He laughed, then pocketed his phone again.
"What could possibly be so funny right now."
"This is about the time I got here yesterday."
"I think it's the time almost all of us got here." Cal glanced at Antoinette, giving a sliver of a smile at her as he remembered helping her with her things and forgetting his own items.
"Actually, Alexander was here way before everyone else." Just as his name was spoken, the last member of the group walked in the door, all of his stuff in his arms.
"What kind of sick F*CK-" Alexander glanced up, cutting himself off.
"And where did you get all that crap?" Antoinette poked fun at her friendly rival, smiling as he rolled his eyes.
"Some sick son of a b*tch put all my sh*t back into my car." The air felt tense as everyone slowly realized that their stuff may not have been stolen after all.
"... I'm gonna go check my car."
"Once again- a pickup isn't a car." Antoinette rolled her eyes as she hurried to get her stuff from her car, same with everyone else. Cal didn't feel up to it, so he sat on the couch, but started choking as the air became clustered with dust.
So, he hopped up and went to help Antoinette with her things.
After returning to the cabin, Geoff and Andrew offered to get Cal's things, but he just shook his head.
"We'll probably be leaving today anyway." Cal glanced at the back door, wanting to go turn the generator on, but scared of what would meet him.
"I'll go do it. Alexander, I may need your help moving.." Monroe glanced at Cal before looking back at Alexander, who got up to help her.
They then walked to the back door and opened it, then paused in their tracks.
"Is it worse in the daylight?" Monroe turned around, her skin becoming a lighter color as the blood drained from it.
".. uh.." This time Cal got up, worried.
"What happened? Did some animals get them..?" Cal's voice shook.Alexander turned back, eyes wide and wild in confusion. Cal tried to think of all the worse possible things that happened, but what actually happened scared him further.
"The body's gone, Cal."
