"What?" Cal pushed past his friends, politely though, and it was revealed as true. The cover was off of it, where it had been the day before. Where it had been for two years. Come to think of it, the generator shouldn't have worked because the cover was off of it for so long.. Weather damage, sun exposure, and other factors played into the fact that it shouldn't have started.
"What the f*ck?" Minx came over, face quickly draining color, dread spreading through her like wildfire.
".. Where's their body?" Cal's face was quickly draining color as well, his eyes scanning the nearby area for footsteps or some other sign that Bastry was taken.. but no. There was nothing. No evidence that Bastry was even there at all. There should have been some form of ashes, or.. or even an imprint where their body laid! Cal looked into the case where the generator was, more curious than cautious, and he touched it.
Cold. Cold and dusty just like yesterday.
Cal put the lid on the generator after starting it up. Inside, the lights came to life and the sink started running. Jaime went inside to turn it off, but Andrew stopped her.
"Its probably best to keep some noise going in the background."
It was eerily quiet that morning. No birds chirping, no buzzing of insects.
Alexander glances down and touched the ground.
Dry.
" I'm going back inside. I'm getting the creeps." Everyone soon joined, after locking the doors and windows. Cal checked the alarm system, putting in a pin to shut off the alerts. He had to do it each time the generator was on and every time he walked in the front door after unlocking it.
"Who the f*ck would take a dead body, man." There was a loud THWACK and Geoff was rubbing the back of his head, groaning and moaning about how a girl shouldn't be that strong in such a frail body.
Monroe thwacked him again.
"I'm about ready to say fuck this and leave, but I'm so hungry that I could go for.." Alexander opened the fridge, then shut it again. He opened it, then shut it again, face scrunched in disgust.
"Never f*cking mind, I guess. It's gone." He sat back down. Andrew's face scrunched in confusion, and he walked over to the fridge, opening it.
Then he shut it.
"Alexander. Why would you let me open that." He turned, the glare in his eyes full of murderous intent and a spark of neat freak kicking in.
"Because I'm sitting in my flesh prison wondering how it got that dirty overnight." Everyone seemed to look at Alexander with a 'wtf?' face, but Andrew just sighed and went to get the cleaning supplies.
"Andrew, you're oddly calm.. seeing as you cleaned it yesterday." Jaime got up to help him, just as she did yesterday.
"I'm over the initial shock of it already."
"Of what?" Jaime and Andrew continued their conversation as they walked away to go get the cleaning things, making their conversation turn to mumbles.
"Anybody know the time?" Monroe pulled out her phone, checking it.
"9:42." He nodded, thanking her and getting up.
"Where are you going?" Minx perked up from staring at her photograph of her cat.
"You don't hear the scratching? The raccoons haven't been fed in awhile, so I'm gonna go give them their food."
"Want me to come with?" Antoinette started getting up already, but Cal tried to refuse.
"It's alright. I brought some extra food just incase they broke into the tub."
"I'm still coming along, Cal." With that, she led the way for a moment, then realized she didn't actually know where the food was stored.
"Maybe you should lead the way." Cal muttered a laugh, walking out of the back door and down a small path to a shed. It took a few minutes to get there though, since Cal's grandmother didn't want the woodland creatures too close to the house.
"Out of all the years I've been here.. How am I just seeing this now?" Antoinette went to punch Cal's arm, but he punched her before she could get to it. "Hey!" She let out as he sprinted down the pathway, just as the shed was starting to come into view. Once they reached the shed, though, Cal was trying to defend himself when a noise interrupted the two.
9:53.
"Stay here, I'll go check it out." Antoinette tried to push Cal behind her, but he pushed by her and grabbed the door handle, throwing open the shed.
Antoinette had stayed back as Cal paused, eyes widening to an alarming rate. All of a sudden, Cal rushed inside and a loud crash was heard, and a surprised yelp could be heard echoing the land. The door shut again.
9:56.
"Cal..? Is everything okay?" As Antoinette drew closer, she realized there was no other noises coming from the shed. She noticed there were a couple bags just outside the shed as well. Familiar bags, at that.
Actually.. Really familiar bags.
She threw open the shed door, her heart skipping a couple beats.
9:59.
Her eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing. First of all, Cal was mushing something in those giant arms of his, holding whatever was in there close. Once he turned, Antoinette could see just what Cal was holding.
10:00.
"..Bastry?"
