Dinner Date

I was currently encoding my reports to send them to my boss when my phone rang. I took a peek at it and saw that it was Diesdan. Nagdadalawang-isip ako kung sasagutin ko ba o hindi. Lalo na nang maalala ang nangyari between Aiden and me last week!

My conscience is eating me up after what happened. But who am I fooling if I, my body wants Aiden? I love what Aiden did to me! Pero kahit ganoon pa man ay sinagot ko pa rin ang tawag ni Diesdan.

"How are you, gorgeous?" Tunog na masaya ang boses ang sumalubong sa akin. I bit my lower lip. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach just because Diesdan, my longtime crush, calls me 'gorgeous'.

"I'm good. How about you?" malambing na tanong ko.

"Doing well so far. I've been busy these past few weeks. Sorry at 'di ako madalas makatawag sa 'yo. I missed you... a lot." I giggled. Diesdan chuckles on the other line because of my reaction. "Are you free later? Dinner?" dagdag nito. Agad naman akong umiling kahit na 'di naman ako nito nakikita.

"I'm free later." Nanatili ang ngiti ko sa mga labi matapos magpaalam si Diesdan. I will be having a dinner date with Diesdan later!

Matapos e-send ang reports, agad akong naligo at nag-ayos. I called Asthra at niyayang mag-mall. I will buy a new dress for the date.

I parked my car beside Asthra's white Mercedes Benz, na kaka-park lang din. Agad naman kaming pumasok sa mall at nag-uusap tungkol sa mga ginagawa this past week, dahil medyo na busy kaming dalawa.

"What's the score between you two, Haley?" biglang tanong ni Asthra, habang busy sa pagtitingin ng mga damit.

"Hmm... we're still dating, Ash." Asthra's left brow shut up.

"Really? Just dating? Hmm," taas-kilay na saad nito kaya bahagya akong napa-irap. "Why have I seen improvement since last time we were in Shandens?" nang-uusisang tingin ni Asthra. Ako naman ngayon ang nagtaka dahil sa sinabi nito.

"I wasn't with Diesdan in Shandens last week, Ash. Ikaw na mismo ang nagsabing—"

"Jesus! I'm not talking about Diesdan, Haley! I'm talking about Aiden!" Ashtra hysterically looked at me. "Don't tell me you're playing fire between the Arceo brothers," dagdag nito.

"I'm not playing fire, Ash—"

"Yet, Diesdan still pursues you, and even Aiden did?" nagtatakang baling ni Asthra sa akin. I faced her.

"I know that I made mistakes, Ash, and one of them is about Aiden. I tried to ignore him and not mind him, but he's damn irresistible!" nakangusong saad ko.

Napabuntonghininga na lang si Asthra dahil sa sinabi ko at bahagyang umiling. Even though I tried to avoid Aiden, every time he's around, I can't help myself from aching for him. I'm fucking torn between the two of them!

"If I were you, I'd choose the man I really wanted. Not the man that I just like," makahulugang saad ni Ashtra bago nagpatuloy sa pagtitingin ng mga damit.

Ilang sandali pa akong tumitingin sa mga damit sa harapan, but my mind remained on what Asthra said.

I don't want Aiden for the same reason that I don't want a man in my life like Johann—a cheater and a man who is owned by another woman. And I like Diesdan so much, even before. And now that destiny is all on us, papalampasin ko pa ba 'yon? Dahil sa kapatid nitong pagmamay-ari at gusto naman ng halos lahat ng kababaihan.

"I'll fetch you later, at 6 in the evening." Agad na napabaling ako kay Aiden dahil sa narinig.

"Pardon?" Kunot-noo akong nagtanong kahit narinig ko naman ang sinabi nito.
