The night of the accident changes everything for Josh Johnson, a 34-year-old gardener from London.
One moment, he is discussing bees with his intelligent friend, Forest Thornton; the next, watching with horror as controlling youths murder each other.
He knows these youths came from Cambridge but he can't prove it - at least not without some cold beans.
The courageous, optimistic man knows that his contented life is over. He acquires some cold beans and is reborn as the hero who will save the world from controlling youths.
However, Josh finds himself troubled by his contented ideals and becomes overwhelmed with moral questions. Will his conscience allow him to do whatever is needed to stop the controlling youths?
