Enough

Anger courses through me
It's running in my veins
As I fight to stay alive
I focus on my rage.

Sticks and stones will break my bones
And words will always hurt me,
But for tonight I won't close my eyes
I refuse to succumb to the pain.

Fists flying 'round my head
I'm starting to see stars
Yet here I am standing tall
You'll never see me fall.

Their punches never slow
My heart only beats faster
All my thoughts are wild
But they'll soon know their master.

They start to close in
So I let out a holler
"I am enough! Go away!
Don't you see I'm still a person at the end of the day?"

"It doesn't matter what you want I won't change myself for you!
No one will ever be able to darken my hue."

In return I receive silence
Their blows have finally stopped
The world is once again quiet
And I'm left alone with my thoughts.
