"Daddy, can I pwease go to wowk wid you today?" Cara was watching her dad rush around the house in the early morning to get ready.
"I'm sorry, Cara, I can't take you. You'd get really bored anyways. Daycare is way more fun than work! I promise, sweetie," he said as he walked past her again to grab his keys off the kitchen counter and his black, worn-out leather jacket off the hook next to the front door.
It was becoming colder since it was transitioning from late fall to early winter. It wasn't winter quite yet but, it was cold enough to be as the tempurature reached the lower forties.
"None of my fwiends are gonna be thewe today, doh!" She exclaimed from the couch, slapping her hands down frustratedly onto the couch cushion.
"I'm sorry, cupcake, I really am. But daddy has to work and I can't work and look after you." Bakugou reached his hand down to her as she sauntered over to him with a pout. He took her small hand in his while he walked out the door, turning around to lock the front door and then outstretching his hand once more to regrip hers.
"I pwomise I'd be weal good doh! And if I'm not, you can take me to daycawe latew!"
"Are you sure none of your friends are gonna be at daycare today? Not even Kirishima?"
The little girl scrunched up her face in thought while her dad opened the car door. She put her small fingers up to her chin and looked up at the sky as if it had the answer to that question. Finally, as Bakugou plopped her in her carseat and started to buckle her she said, "no, I don't think Kiwishima's gonna be dewe today. I tink I wemembew he told me he don't wowk on Satuwdays."
Bakugou smirked as he put the key in the ignition. "You sure you're not just making that up?"
"I pwomise, daddy!"
Bakugou thought about it. He really, truly thought about it. It isn't fair that Cara barely sees him and maybe taking her to work would be a good thing because he could keep an eye on her and she would be able to spend time with him. It would be a win-win. Though, what if he turned his back for two minutes and someone were to come take her? Or what if she wanders off into the street while he's not paying attention and gets run over? God, your brain really does go to the extremes when you're a parent. One of the smaller-scale issues of taking Cara to work, however, would be that she would call him daddy the whole time and he didn't want his coworkers finding out he was a dad. How could he even begin to explain that? He's twenty-one and has a child... how do you explain that to someone without telling them the actual story?
He would never tell random people about how he had sex with a girl because he was trying to convince himself he was straight, only to learn that the girl he had sex with was pregnant with his child. That's so much more wrong on so many levels than just accidentally getting a girl pregnant. There's so many things wrong with what he did and he regrets his decision every day. He doesn't regret having Cara, not at all. He regrets having sex with a girl to make his own insecurities lesser and to prove to himself that he was not, in fact, gay. Though, it's clear, now that he has the freedom to do and be whatever he wants without his parents or friends or the high school social hierarchy judging him, he is 100 percent gay.
So, with that in mind, he compromised.
"Tell you what, cupcake: if you're good at daycare then you can come back to work with me later, okay?"
She was visibly happy but not satisfied with this answer.
"How long will dat take?" She had a small grimace on her face and Bakugou thought about this for a second before answering.
"When it's 5 o'clock, I'll come and pick you up."
"Okay!" She smiled excitedly as she turned to look out the window at the passing buildings and people.
