Michael was cuddled into Calums side, slowly falling asleep to the beating of his friends heart. Calum constantly held the smaller boy close, not letting him go unless he needed to use the bathroom. They've been apart for too long, and they agreed that they'd just talk next time something got bad.

not that either of them planned for anything to go south again.

it's so funny how your life changes with someone in it, then when they're gone- all hell breaks loose. Calum never realized that Michael was holding him all together. that if the boy ever left again, he would break. and he wasnt sure if he'd be able to come back from it that time. his face twisted with pain as he thought back to the last week, how many tears he shed. it was like everything from the past 4 years built up and it hit him all at once. all because Michael left him.

he knew he had to change for the boy, he knew his personality now was draining. that the boy could only handle it a few hours a day, so deep down he knew that he was going to have to change...himself. for Michael.

he knew that Mikey would never ask this of him, but he also knew he shouldnt have to. that he should just do it, because of how many times Michael has helped him. maybe then Michael could completely love him..maybe then they could be happy again.

he heads light snores come from the boy so he gently stood, then picked him up and carried him to his pastel room. placing him softly on his bed, then pulling the blanket over his body before placing a stuffed sloth beside him. the boy shifted and rolled onto his side and pulled the sloth to his chest before his eyes opened slowly and he patted the space beside him lightly. motioning for Calum to lay.

so Calum unbuckled his belt and slipped his pants off before laying down and getting the blanket thrown over him, before Michael snuggled into his chest. resting his sloth between their chests.

Calum held the boy closer and sighed in contentment before letting his eyes close and sleeping for the first time in a few days.

"do you think hes going to be okay?" Ashton asked softly, biting his short nails.

"yeah, calum really missed him. I doubt he'll let him out of his sight, it was pretty bad." Luke replied, turning to the boy.

"what do you mean by that? you've said it twice now."

Luke sighed as he thought back to how destroyed Caluk was. How many times he went over to soothe the sobbing man, or just to assure him that Michael was coming back.

"it was just bad, I never want to see him like that again. he didn't stop crying, I'd go over and he hadnt showered for days and his whole house would be a mess. like he trashed the place after I cleaned it. he just looked undone, like he was missing the biggest part of him. it was...unsettling. I hated seeing him like that, which is why my attitude changed. I was there for him when Michael wasnt, so why wasnt he appreciating me? I was always there..and he just wanted michael." Luke told the dirty blond, revealing his secret.

Ashton sighed and nodded, "yeah..Michael was pretty upset too. I think he stayed little all the time to just avoid talking about it, it's like he didnt even want to think about him," he was silent for a few minutes before he whispered, "you know they have something we'll never be able to top...right?" he couldn't help but let a few tears fall. he hated to admit it but it was true, he wanted to stay away from the truth because of how deeply he cared for Michael. it was crazy how much his life has changed by having him in it for such a short amount of time.

Luke nodded as he thought of Calum, it wasnt fair. but he knew that Calums heart was taken. he wished that it was by him but he knew better than to lie to himself.

sometimes things just dont work out the way you want. and sometimes love doesnt work in your favor.

Ashton sighed and leaned into Luke's chest and the blond held him tightly, accepting the warmth. and they both let tears fall silently, as they thought of the twisted twisted love they got themselves tangled up into.
