"Why wouldn't you wake us up?"

A voice grated on Rose's ears. She already had enough on her plate by committing not only her first murder but two more. Then there was the question of how to get rid of the bodies. She wouldn't allow the boys to help but she did let Jasper tell her explicitly what to do.

She was dragging the last body into the thicket of trees, towards a mass of water when she tripped over something. She screamed in shock when she saw the mangled face of the driver looking back at her.

It was all too much.

All so quickly as well. Of course, it was self defense but still. She was sick to her stomach, although if she had to do it again she would have.

"I'm the adult. I don't need you to protect me, I'm protecting you."

Hans rolled his eyes at her words and she gripped the steering wheel tighter. They were shocked at first, then angry. Repeatedly stating it was stupid to not entrust the killing to the trained assassins and that she could have been hurt.

The road they were on went straight to the location where Rose was to meet this lady. She felt exhausted, she was so tired of running. That and Jaspers smart ass mouth.

Her eyes were feeling heavy when she saw it. The giant run down house that looked as if it could topple over any second. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted someone in front of it.

A woman who looked just like a mix between Luciano and Klaus. She had his platinum locks and Luciano's face, minus a stoney expression.

They made it.

Luciano had an idea of what was happening. This was bigger than his feud with his brother. There were more people at work than just the two of them.

That was evident to him when he got closer to his childhood vacation home. He resolved to go alone, even though Apollo protested. He didn't want to bring more people into this mess.

It wasn't until he was driving on his own through the secluded forestry that he realized just how much his best friend put up with him. Not just him but Rose as well.

He pulled around the driveway, hopping out of the car, his steely gaze set on the crumbling building before him. A truck with a trailer attached was parked next to the house. Luciano narrowed his eyes, slipping his gun in the holster.

Walking up to the home, he noticed the lights flickering inside. An old, broken down porch swing caught his attention. It gently swayed with the wind. The man took an anxious breath.

This could be a trap, but it was worth it if he could see Rose again. Luciano knocked on the door.

"You?" He croaked out, voice broken in shock at who opened it.

"I'm sure you have many questions for me." Alice spoke to Rose, pouring the girl a cup of tea as the sat down.

The outside interior of the house was misleading. When Alice opened the door it showed a house that looked like it should have a 10 million dollar selling point.

Rose didn't let this bother her, at this point, she was used to their weird tricks. What she couldn't believe was that standing in front of her was Luciano's 'dead' mother.

"Why? No, not even that, how are you alive?" The words tumbled out of her mouth as she set her hands on the table. "You do know both of yours sons have thought you were dead for years?!" This was some major plot twist at the end of a novel type ish.

Who was she kidding? Her whole life had become a novel in itself.

The woman shifted, her small smile dropping. "It's not as if I wanted this."

Maybe it was the fact that she'd gotten sucked up in a brotherly feud over the woman sitting in front of her. Maybe it was the fact that her best friend and father are being held hostage somewhere. Maybe it was the fact that she was losing her damn mind, but Rose surprised herself as her voice came out harsh and uncaring.

"That's not what I asked you." Her face remained unchanging but the other woman flinched slightly.

"It was Nero."

The name sounded familiar. "Mr. Vinetti?" Rose questioned as she placed the name. Alice nodded in response.

"It's complicated, but. . . I never loved him. And he knew this, then we had that demon child-"

"Luciano?" Rose interjected noting the toxicity she added when she spoke about him. The other woman glared daggers at her in an instant.

"Don't say his name. He tried to harm his own mother."

"A mother that abused him."

Where did that come from?

Rose paused, she didn't mean to let that slip out her mouth but she couldn't help it. What wasn't about to happen was a bunch of deflecting, she wanted the raw truth. If she was in this shit, she might as well plunge all the way.

"I know how you treated him." Rose finished her statement as Alice shook her head.

"He was a monster." She spoke quietly, her eyes downcast. Rose felt her heart ache for Luciano.

"Only because you made him one." The other woman stayed silent.

"Why were you missing all these years?" Rose continued prodding and Alice sighed.

"Nero, he knew I was cheating on him and that made me angry. He was too obsessed to kill me though." She explained taking a sip of her lukewarm tea while Rose narrowed her eyes.

"Why would he let you go now though?" It didn't make any sense. All these years go by and he never made a move to release the woman. So why now?

"You."

Rose froze. Me?

"Klaus-" Alice's voice cracked when she said his name. The woman quickly cleared it to continue, "-and my other son, they love you. He thinks that with me coming back to 'life' and you being with them, he can use that."

Being with both of them? She could feel her face getting a little warm. The thought ran through Rose's head but she quickly dispelled it.

"He wants power." She spoke firmly while Alice nodded in agreement. It was obvious, that's what any of these stupid criminals wanted. If he assumed she would just play into his hands, he was dead wrong. If anything, she was choosing for herself now.

Not having anything else to ask Alice, the young woman began to stand up.

"Ah-" Alice stopped her. "I have a question for you now."

Rose sat back down slowly, "Yes?" What could she possibly have to ask her?

She licked her lips. Her hands played with her shirt, as her leg bounced. Finally she took a breath, looking Rose dead in her eyes. "Why? Why do you love Luciano and not Klaus?"
