"Luciano."
Rose called out to the man who gazed in wonder at the tiny human in his arms. She wasn't even sure if he was breathing at that point, he had been so still.
"She's so tiny." His voice reached her ears as she huffed.
It's been a few weeks since little Briar had come home with the couple, and Luciano had hardly calmed down.
She figured the man would have mellowed out after being so over protective during her pregnancy but Briar only spurred him on more. It was insane!
"She is a baby." The woman remarked, amused. As irritating as he could be, she saw all the love and admiration that Luciano held for the little girl.
The house had never been so neutrally chaotic. Usually the guys made so much noise and argued but now they keep quiet while Briar is sleeping. If she cried, before Rose could even move, Luciano would sprint to her room along with Hans and Jasper bolting behind him.
She sighed. It hasn't even been a month and the little girl had these men wrapped around her tiny fingers. She couldn't even imagine how it would be when she grew up.
The couple sat in the nursery, Rose drinking warm milk with honey, as she reclined in a chair and stared at her husband.
Life was certainly different for them. At the insistence of Ebony, they moved to America. Klaus and Apollo handled most things back in Italy but for the most part life was tranquil. Or as tranquil as it could be with these guys around.
Once Mr. Vinetti was imprisoned, Luciano changed his last name to his mothers. From then on, things continued to change until they were here. Sitting in this nursery with their first child. Though, things weren't all good. There was something she needed to talk with him about, an issue that's been bothering her.
Luciano found himself waking everyday, before the sun would come up, slipping out of bed quietly so as not to disturb his sleeping wife, and walking the halls of their home.
He'd go past Jasper and Hans' rooms, down into the living room that was filled with pictures of the family. He would pick up the wedding album that their friends and family had put together, looking through the pictures of him smiling with Rose beaming beside him at their small ceremony.
His eyes would skim the photos, a tightening in his chest as he flipped through until the end.
But, it wasn't the end.
Luciano would then stand, and go to the kitchen. He'd have a seat at the island, with a small glass of scotch, staring out the window as he looked out the window, the sky slowly beginning to light up.
Afterwards, the man slowly walked to back down the hallway. Instead of going into his room, he carefully opened a door to the left of it. There he took a seat next to a crib, where little Briar slept. Every night, after he roamed the halls in wonder of a life he never thought he'd have, waiting to wake up from this dream, he watched over his greatest treasure.
For a fear that anything could hurt her. The man eventually would fall asleep and Rose, who could feel him leave at night, would quietly come into the room, covering him with the blanket.
She could never know what he's seen, or done, completely. But she did know, what he was doing wasn't healthy.
"Luc." She sighed, gathering the mans attention.
She had just fed the baby and now he was trying to get her to burp.
He raised an eyebrow, "Yes, my love?"
