"Chrysssss!!" I jumped at the sound of my name being called from the other side of the hallway and couldn't help myself when I ducked my head shyly to avoid the curious glances I received from people around me. Madeline jumped into view, tackling me into a tight hug and I squirmed, gasping for breath.

"You want to kill her, Mads?" A chuckle sounded from behind me and the person gently pulled me out of Maddy's grasp.

"Thank you, kind human! You're my hero!" I yelled dramatically, before flinging my arms around Charlie's neck. He easily caught me, his arms snaking around my waist and we stayed tangled together for a moment before we burst out laughing.

I turned my back to him, and his arm moved from my waist to my shoulders as Maddy eyed us with a smirk.

"Is something going on that I should know about?" She teased, winking as her stare remained locked on Charlie's arm around my shoulder.

I glanced his way, only to find him already looking at me and with the small nod I sent to him as confirmation, he began to tell Mads the truth.

"Chrys and I... We've been together for a couple of weeks now," He nervously scratched the back of his neck, a shy expression on his face. "We really like each other..."

Maddy's eyes were the size of saucers, glancing back and forth like she watching a tennis match and I bit back the urge to laugh.

And then she squealed – though it sounded more like a cross between a banshee's cry and a dying whale. Her small figure bounced up and down with excitement as she started babbling on about how she always knew we'd end up together and how we were meant to be, and this time I let a small laugh bubble from my lips.

Charlie made a small noise beside me that resembled the squeak of a mouse and I immediately knew that he was also trying not to laugh at his sister.

"Ahem... M-mads?" She ignored him and continued to talk nonsense, which earned an eye roll from Charlie.

"Mads! Listen!" Her small body paused its hyperactivity and she turned to look at me, hands on her hips as she pursed her lips.

"You better have a good reason for interrupting my rant, Crysanthemum Rose Terrin" Oh damn... The use of my full name only meant bad things were going to happen and I knew that if we told Maddy the real truth, she's decapitate us both.

"Well uhm... We lied! We're not dating!!" The words blurted out before I could seal my lips and the change of expression on her face had Charlie and I reaching for each other's hands as we yelled "RUNNN!" down the corridors.
