I angrily hang up on the interpreter. I know I shouldn't shoot the messenger, but I was furious. I had just spent the last hour having an interpreter translate what the people at the airport had said. Apparently, they couldn't find my missing suitcase. It's not like I had valuables in my suitcase it was just that I had all my clothes in there. Lets face in, my twig of a cousin's clothes weren't going to do any longer.
I flip over on the twin bed I was lying on. I stare up at the high ceilings trying to let off some steam. Minutes passed and finally Elizabeth, Macy and Samuel came back from their walk. Carefully, Elizabeth put a sleeping Samuel into his crib which was beside her bed. Since moving into my aunt and uncles house, we've tried to get as settled as we could. Elizabeth, Macy, Samuel and me all shared a bedroom. It was the girls room, plus Samuel. The boys thought that us, girls, could take better care of him than the boys. Plus, the disturbance of a baby would ruin their man cave vibe. The boys bedroom was right beside ours. All of us McCormick's were down stairs in the basement of the large house. Macy comes over and begins bouncing on my bed. Apparently, the walk hadn't fully burned off all her energy. I look up towards Elizabeth and we make eye contact.
"Your+ Suitcase?" She asks.
I shake my head indicating my frustration on the whole matter. She just nods in reply. About a second later, Sophia appears in the door frame of my room. I squint my eyes in attempt to read her lips. Knowing that I couldn't see her lips she walks closer to me.
"Come on. Were going to the mall. You need clothes ________ your suitcase never showed up. _________ Mom won't let me go without someone coming to keep me out of trouble" Sophia lips to me. She flips her blonde hair and begins walking out of my room. I silently follow Sophia, shaking my head as I pass by Elizabeth.
Outside of the house, I see Sophia sitting in the drivers seat of a silver convertible car. I open the passenger door, but Sophia closes it, indicating for me to sit in the back. With a puzzled look I hop into the backseat of the car. Before I even have my seat belt fastened Sophia sped out of the driveway. Rocks went flying as her tires skid across the pavement. She sped straight through a stop sign, laughing with her hair blowing in the wind. I look up at the fast moving sky thinking I would finally be with my parents again soon. The car begins vibrating as Sophia pulls out into traffic. I look down to see her fiddling with the radio, only to remove her hands seconds later to press on the center of the steering wheel. Her lips begin talking fast and she flips off the guy in front of her. I'm sure if I had continued to watch her lips I would have seen her lips curse a few times. Sophia takes a sharp left which smacks my head against the car.
She rushes down the long street. Palm trees align the neighborhood of big houses. Sophia slams on the brake in front of one of the houses. Her sudden stop had given my whip lash. She presses on the horn. Seconds later I see two boys coming out of the house. Oh Great. My aunt is definitely gonna kill me if this is going where I think its going.
The two boys get closer to the car and I'm able to see their about my age. The one on the left had fair skin with curly, blonde hair. He wore a royal blue sweatshirt, faded jeans and a pair of Jourdan's. I look at the boy on the right. I recognized him in a split of a second. It was Brandon, the boy from the park. The curly hair boy ran across the car and got into the passenger side. Brandon hopped over the edge of the car and into the back with me. Brandon nodded a 'What's up' to me. I smile in response. I stare back up at Sophia who was now making out with the curly haired boy. I kick the back of her seat. Sophia turns and glares at me. I raise my eyebrows at her and she pulls the car out of park.
Only a few minutes later we were at the mall. It should have taken us longer, but Sophia was raging driver. She flips the car into a handicap spot and they all begin getting out. I point at the handicap sign, but Sophia pretends she didn't see. I climb out of the car and follow.
