A Misunderstanding (SONADOW)

Chapter 4

Sonic P.O.V

It was a lot of hard work trying to tidy up my room and emptying it of anything that reminded me of Shadow. Everything that bare some significant meaning to him was all placed into some cardboard boxes, that would later be stored away in the basement. Currently in the box were some photos of me and him when we won last year's School Sports Competition, a black and red pillow that reminded me of him, some sneaky photos that I took of him before I even confessed, a sketch of him which I had torn out of my sketchbook and even a few birthday and Christmas presents that I'm pretty sure Rouge forced him to get for me.

I couldn't help myself but sigh feeling a bit depressed again. Despite what Mighty had said about throwing out anything that reminded me of Shadow, my mind and heart knew, that even if I did that; I can still never truly get over him, but I still wanted to try and see if the advice that my Armadillo friend gave, would help me to some extent. A few items ended up into the box when I heard my little bro calling.

"SONIC! IT'S TIME FOR DINNER!"

"Coming!" I called back before closing the box lid and going out of my room. I went downstairs to the dining table were there were two plates of Chilidogs each for me and Tails, with him already sitting down and waiting patiently for me. I sat down and started to dig in.

Tails spoke up, "So how's the cleaning up going, Sonic? Do you need any help after dinner?"

I answered back with my mouth still stuffed, "No thanks Tails, I've got it all under control."

He smiled, feeling happy for me, "Well at least you seem more cheerful, did that advice your new friend gave you is helping?"

I swallowed my food down and started scratching my chin, "Hmm... I guess to some extent. I mean I still feel pretty sad over what's happened, but I also feel like there's a lighter burden on my back too."

"Well, it does take time healing from something like this Sonic, you can't rush it no matter how fast you can go but I can you tell me who this new friend is?"

Feeling some of my usual cockiness back, I only winked and wagged a finger. "Sorry Tails, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow's lunch break. It's a surprise." I got up and started putting my dirty dish away into the dishwasher.

My little bro started pouting. "Huh? But why do I have to wait that long? Can't you please tell me now?"

I couldn't help myself but chuckle. No matter how intelligent and smart he is, he's still an eleven-year-old kid. I patted his head affectionately. "And you say I'm the one who is impatient?"

He grumbled, fixing up his hair as he let out a sarcastic laugh. "I learned from the best." He snarked.

We both kept throwing remarks at each other and laughing as we started to clean up the table right after he was done eating. After we were both finished, Tails went back to his small lab to finish some assignments for his engineering classes while I gone back upstairs to my room to continue tidying up and later try to finish some of my homework.

It was around 10:40pm by the time I finished putting the boxes into the basement and finished up my homework. Since I had nothing else I could do, I took my phone off my drawer and started texting Mighty. The two of us exchanged each other's phone numbers after school before we both went our separate ways home. Mighty to his apartment and me to the house both me and Tails share.

I sent a text to him.

{Hi.}

He immediately texted me back:

{Hey Sonic, did you do it?"}

{Yep, I got rid of everything that reminded me of Shadow.}

That was partly a lie. Because I couldn't truly get over him, I only placed all the items hidden away in the basement.

{That's good to hear. How do u feel right now?}

{I'm still upset over what happened, but I also feel like there's a small amount of weight off my back.}

{That's great! It may just be a little but it's still great! This will take a whole slower than how fast u run Sonic.}

I felt some slight amusement from that text.

{That's exactly what Tails said to me when I told him XD}

{Hahahahahaha! XDD!}

Even I started laughing too before I remembered a certain flying squirrel .

{So, how's Ray? I haven't seen the little guy since he was in infant. Is he doing alright?}

{Oh yeah, Ray's great! He's totally excited when I told him about what happened yesterday. He was literally flying around the apartment all happy. He really wants to see you and the guys soon.}

{Aww, that's adorable! Maybe one day we can.}

{Hahaha! We're still doing it huh. I can't wait to see everyone's faces.}

{Yeah, I sure they'll be priceless. BTW where can I meet up with you before school starts?}

{I'll be in the school gym doing my daily workout. Is Knuckles going to be there too?}

{Nah don't worry about old Knucklehead ruining the surprise. He practically has a gym of his own in his house's basement.}

{That's good to hear. Sorry but it's getting late and I must put Ray to bed now. Is it alright if we could continue this tomorrow?}

I noticed that time has already changed to 11:15pm. Wow really does go almost as fast as me when you're having a nice chat.

{Of course, dude. I should also get Tails to sleep too or probably even carry him to bed if he fell asleep working on his assignments. Goodnight.}

I set my phone's alarm to about 6:30am, three and a half hours early before school starts and plug in the charger before placing next to my bed.
