Noah's POV:
I stood up from the desk, and put my tux jacket on.
I looked at the expensive watch on my hand and sighed.
The door clicked behind me as I walked out, and I suddenly heard a few grunts coming from the end of the corridor.
I braced myself and walked towards the source of the sound. I flung the door open and saw Aura panting while staring at the surroundings of the room.
What amazed me was what she had done to the room.
It looked kind of cozy and warm. The plain beige wall that I stared at all day was brought to life with a vintage clock and some old paintings. A row of house plants and cacti were placed along the window, and for once the room didn't look like a complete disaster. Papers were put into various files and I could actually find a decent pen to write with. Dare I say, Aura had actually done a pretty good job.
I had taken a huge risk in hiring her acting solely on gut instinct, but it looks like my decision hadn't come back to bite me in the ass just yet.
But the jerk in me had to act out.
"What are you still doing here, Ms. Collins?" I sneered.
She jumped and turned to look at me.
"I was transforming my office from a dead cemetery to an undead happy land."
"You call a workplace happy land?"
She shrugged.
"You prefer dead cemetery?" She asked.
"Why is there a vase full of lemons?"
"The room needed a pop of color, plus that farm guy you had a meeting with sent them as a courtesy present, and when life gives you lemons..."
"There is a black couch in there."
"Yeah, it's black."
"Black is such a happy color." I deadpanned with a straight face.
"Says, psychopaths. Besides, black is a shade, not a color."
I smirked.
"Go home, Ms. Collins. It's late."
I turned my back on her and prepared to walk out.
"You can drop the act now, there's no one around now."
"What act?" I turned to face her.
"The act of 'oh I'm so brooding and scary, everyone fear me'."
"You should really watch your next words carefully, Ms. Collins." I threatened.
"You can call me Aura, I hate formalities. Spent most of my life getting rid of them."
"This is not the time and place to just rant about time-wasting epiphanies. If there is nothing relevant to my work life left to say, I'd like to head home and rest. "
She shook her head. "Yeah, you do that."
Aura pushed past me and walked towards the elevator. I followed her and stuck my hand in before the doors closed. She stood at the farthest corner from me and purposely ignored me till we reached the ground floor.
The double doors of the elevator opened, and she dashed away from me.
I walked towards my black Ferrari and ignored the curses that came from the other end of the parking lot.
"This is so unfair!" Aura yelled.
"Stupid, stupid car." She huffed.
"Have a problem, Ms. Collins?"
