They were lying on the couch, limbs tangled, having a Disney movie marathon. It was all silent, except for the movie playing in the background.
Well, it was until Donghyuck lifted his head up from Mark's chest to look him in the eyes.
"Hey, Mark"
"What, love?"
"Can I tell someone?"
"Huh? Tell what?"
"Can I tell someone that we were fake dating?" Donghyuck clarified.
Mark, shocked, sat up, "What?! You know we can't!"
"Well, actually. Um... I stumbled upon the digital copy of the contract they sent us after we signed the hard copy. I was going through my mail and there it was."
"Okay...And?"
"Well, I started thinking back to the actual moment we had signed the contract and thought something was fishy about it..."
Mark was suddenly interested, "Oh?"
"Yeah, think about it. We had no lawyer or witnesses besides our managers. I mean, it was a secret contract, but because we were technically signing the contract with the company we needed witnesses that weren't part of the company or something like that? I looked it up to make sure..." Donghyuck explained.
"Okay..but what does that mean exactly?"
"It means that the contract is void. That everything written in it doesn't really apply to us anymore. Well, it was voided the second we started actually dating."
"Wait. What?"
"I read the fine print, something I should have probably done at the beginning of this arrangement, but it states and I quote 'If the participants were indeed to start dating, regardless of the contract and with true feelings involved, the contract will be voided for the purpose of mental and relational health'."
"That means that we don't have to obey the contract anymore?"
"Well, since we haven't told our managers that we're actually dating yet, we still have to comply with the contract. But I do think that we can have some sort of leeway or at least break some of the rules..."
"Okay. I'm fine with that"
"So can I tell Jaemin?"
"Yeah, I guess, as long as he keeps it a secret that we ever fake-dated"
"He will"
Donghyuck was confident.

Donghyuck is standing outside Jaemin's door, his arm raised to knock. He shouldn't do this. He shouldn't bother Jaemin. He's probably busy. He doesn't want Donghyuck hanging around.
Right? Jaemin wouldn't want that. Why would he?
So why is he standing here with his arm raised like an idiot? Donghyuck imagines Jaemin looking through the peephole of the door wondering with the fuck he's doing.
And suddenly the door swings inward interrupting his thoughts.
Jaemin visibly jumps. "What the-- Donghyuckl? What are you doing?"
"I was about to knock," he lowers his arm. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to get groceries," Jaemin responds.
Donghyuck wants to leave but he can't think of an excuse. He doesn't want to just snap away without explanation.
He can't do that to Jaemin.
Seeing Donghyuck's face of nervousness, Jaemin immediately jumped to the worst conclusion.
"So who died?" he asked.
"No one died," Donghyuck assured him. "Why do you ask?"
"You're never come to my apartment without telling me first," Jaemin pointed out. "You don't think I notice? You're my best friend. It just seems a little suspicious."
Donghyuck cleared his throat and wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans as Jaemin invited him into the apartment.
"Everything's fine," he reassured him. "But - I have to tell you something," he said solemnly.
Jaemin stopped and peered at him curiously. "About what?"
Donghyuck grew suddenly bold, reaching across the table and taking the Jaemin's hand in his own elegant one.
"I thought you should know I've been keeping a secret from you--a secret about Mark and I," he declared. "We're fake dating. Well, not anymore. We actually started dating two weeks ago..."
Donghyuck was going to keep rambling but had to remind himself that he had to calm down.
Jaemin paused, looking back and forth between Donghyuck and their joined hands. "I know," he said diffidently.
"How the fuck did you know?" Donghyuck asked incredulously.
"Oh come on, Hyuck! You're a really bad liar and I've been your best friend for years! I also know what kind of mother you have and that your profession requires secrets."
"God! Jaemin, I'm so sorry. I really wanted to tell you, but I was -- still am -- bound by contract to not tell you...I-"
"It's okay. I knew you would tell me at some point. You just needed to find the right time to do it. I'm not mad, so don't worry," Jaemin assured Donghyuck who looked immensely close to tears.
Before the first tear could fall, Jaemin had Donghyuck in his arms. He held him up as tears flowed freely with sniffling and convulsive coughs. His hands rubbed Donghyucks back while holding him to his chest. Donghyuck clutched at Jaemin's shoulders as he buried his head in Jaemin's neck.
"Shhh," Jaemin tried to quiet Donghyuck as his heart pounded in his chest.
He started dropping tiny kisses in Donghyuck's hair as Donghyuck chanted, "I'm sorry," over and over as Jaemin held him, "I'm so sorry."
They stayed like that for long, quiet minutes as Donghyuck's tears subsided. Slowly he pulled away.
"Thank you. You're the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Did you know that?" Donghyuck whispered.
"Of course I know, who else would let you slobber all over them like this except me?"
"Oh, shut up!"
