hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have - but i have it - Lana Del Rey

"No matter what a woman wears, it is always wrong to take advantage of her body without her consent. No matter how flirty she was, it is wrong to kill a woman because she said no for more. The law clearly states it, and we have visual and physical proofs against Mr. Johnson for first degree murder, rape, and abuse of a corpse, and against Mr. Stutts for rape and association to murder. Your honor and members of the jury, what more would you need me to give for you to put these men behind bars?"

Under the shower, Dahlia remembered vividly every words she said during the trial. Especially the ones that won her case.

Her opponent played with the fact that the two men were fathers and could never do such atrocities to girls close to their children's age.

Dahlia and the prosecutor quickly smashed this argument, all of the evidences pointing in their culpability. The young woman wasn't the one working the trial, but as the lawyer of the victim, the prosecutor of the State asked for her implication in the trial. The two made quite the team.

They won, fair and square.

Jimin had to testify in court, along with Namjoon, who were two of the first to arrive on the scene after crime.

Dahlia discovered, again, a whole new side to Jimin's personality. She always knew he had charm, but his cute, even angelic, smile conquered everyone in the courtroom, even the one-hundred percent straight white dad she had spotted in the jury. Everyone was in awe. Dahlia, on the other hand, was absolutely traumatized.

As she had learned, Jimin was anything but an angel. He liked alcohol, drugs, women, and fucking. He didn't make love, he fucked and nothing else. They had done it on a crime scene for god's sake!

But the Jimin up at the bar was nothing like the one she knew. A little boy with big grey doe eyes, his puffy cheeks round and squishable as hell. He looked like the portrait of innocence, suddenly looking as if he were eleven years old. The long and manly hands she so desperately longed for, earlier that morning, looked smaller than ever. The defense lawyer didn't even try anything to undo his testimony, also in awe.

Even after the trial, Dahlia was still shook over this transformation. This duality was killing her from inside, as the feeling she was now so guilty of set in deep in her ore. Hope was setting through her veins, making her shiver under the warm dripping water of the shower.

Dahlia finally got out the tub, sitting down in front of her dressing table after slipping on her corset, garters, tights and lace panties. Grabbing her brush, she started rolling her hair around it, blow-drying it to tame her curls into long and flowy waves setting down on her lumbar area. She then applied her makeup, going in for a simple cat eye, golden eyeshadow and a deep cherry lipstick. For the final touch, she braided her frontal locks, crossing them with a golden and diamond hair-pin.

All of it was to go with her ball gown. Made from burgundy silk and embroidered with flower-shaped lace, the dress fit her breasts through her waist, the fabric going down loosely to form a flowy mix of fabric. Her shoulder were naked, to which she applied a little bit of gold dust to highlight the warmness of her skin tone.

Maevy had one of her contacts designed this dress for Dahlia, going alongside a simple gold lace mask. The Grand Ball was a big deal for her firm, and even though she was tired up by the trial, she couldn't risk not attending. And in another matter, she hoped it would help clear things up with Jimin.

...

Dahlia passed through the marble arch of the ballroom, the event happening at an old bank that had been changed into an hotel. There were lots of secrete passage and possibilities to sleep or dine into vintage safes.
