His gang members all turned and looked at me in silence. Then, Nick's gang members begin to back away.

"Done!" They yell and disappear into the trees, dragging Nick's limp body after them.

I felt a warm hand on my arm, "The fight's over, Carter," Danielle murmurs and I give her a slight nod in response. I heard yelling and turn around to find Zayn right in front of me.

"Why didn't you shoot?!" Zayn screamed at me. "What the fuck was all that about?! Someone could've shot you! You never freeze during a fight! You want to be apart of this gang, then start acting like it!" He shoved me aggressively and I fell backwards.

"Zayn! It's her first time! Chill out!" Liam defends me, but Zayn doesn't calm down.

"No! She could've cost us the fight! One of us could've gotten hurt and it would've been her fault! She froze! You don't freeze during a fight! That's a stupid ass move!" He continued to yell at me, then walked away, kicking the dirt, and slamming the door as he gets in the passenger side of the van.

Danielle helps me up and we head towards the van. I noticed Liam limping and thought that he must've gotten into a rough fight with someone. I feel a pain in my leg, but chose to ignore it since I probably just landed wrong from when Zayn pushed me.

"Good job, Carter," another guy, whose name I think was Louis, says to me, "that takes guts to walk up and kill him like that." He gives me a pat on the shoulder, but the compliment doesn't make me feel any better.

The way Zayn had yelled and the anger he had in his eyes actually scared me.

I take a seat in the van when Eleanor gasps.

"Carter! You're bleeding!" She announced and everyone, but Zayn looked at me.

I didn't feel anything up until the point when she decided to touch it and it burned. That's when I realized that my jeans were drenched in blood.

What the hell?

I roll my jeans up and everyone's eyes go wide.

"Carter, you were shot!" Danielle shrieks and Zayn turns around, looking alarmed.

"No, no, I'm fine," I tell them, but it starts shooting pain throughout my leg. The van picks up speed and we're back at the house soon enough.

"Get her to a bed!" Louis shouts and I feel Zayn lift me up, whatever anger he had towards me was now long gone, and he carried me to a room.

"When you get hurt, you're supposed to tell people," I hear him mumble, but I don't reply. I'm suddenly afraid for my own life.

He laid me down on the bed and ripped the jeans off my bad leg. There was a big gash on my leg and blood was pouring out like a waterfall.

"Shit," Zayn cursed. "Danielle, I need the first aid kit!"

"Am I going to die?" I ask him scared, tears falling from my eyes. Zayn looks at me, but doesn't show any sign of fear nor sympathy.

"No, Carter, you're not going to die. I won't let that happen."

I nod, but the fear of what happened to my parents, happening to me wouldn't leave my mind.

Danielle rushed in, holding multiple cloths in her hands. "There wasn't a first aid kit. I called our family doctor and he's on his way," she tells him and he nods.

I start to feel faint and my breathing starts to become low pants as dots appeared in my vision.

"Carter," I hear him say and I look over, but it was becoming hard to focus. "Carter, I need you to stay awake for me, okay?" I nod, but it was getting difficult to stay awake. "Hey, open your eyes!"

I opened my eyes and he sat down on the bed and grabbed my hand.

"You're not off to a very good start," he says and I laugh a little, which makes him smile slightly. I feel him stroke my hand and pinch it every so often when my eyes started to close.

"I'm tired."

"You can't sleep till I tell you too, okay? We just have to wait for a little bit more."
