We headed out in the morning.

We were as silent as possible. Even though we were a pretty large group of survivors.

The girls were Me,Junie,Tracy,Marianna,Teresa,Dianne, Rosy, Anita,Ashley and Margarita.

The boys were Lenny,Robert,Vincent,Angel,Jorge,Michael,Romeo, and Andy.

Andy crept up to the front. He was the youngest and the hardest to catch.

"Coast is clear," He said slowly.

I crept forward slowly and motioned Andy backwards.

I walked out into the alley and it was clear. For now.

We scavenged all the houses that were in the alley. We found canned foods that could work and water. Oh, and we killed some zombies in the process. But who wouldn't know that part.

While others waited in the cars I looked through a little library the people had in the house. Even though the world had ended I still believed an education was important. Even though there was no need for it now. That made me chuckle. I remember when all we used to care about was texting, boys and make-up. Then the world ended.

You never treasure what you had until you loose it. I felt my breathing heavier. I was about to cry.

I remember how I would always yell at my mom. Tell her that her food was shit.

Now I would give anything for one of her hugs or some of that food she cooked.

I furiously wiped a tear away. I heard something fly by my head and then all of a sudden a zombies body landed with a thump at my feet.

I was so distracted I didn't notice a zombie coming towards me. I shook my head and turned around. Robert was there chuckling.

He loved to prove that he was stronger and smarter sometimes. I guess it made him feel more like a man. He was around my age and was the second person who helped me trying to survive. The first was Lenny.

He walked into the room and he was serious.

"What's wrong? You almost lost it," he said concerned.

I shook my head.

"Nothing," I replied and walked out to the cars, books in my hand.

I climbed into the jeep that I was driving and started it. That was a signal to everyone that we were heading out.

I had no idea where to go to. We drove around for a bit and found a huge house.

Now when I saw huge I mean HUGE!

Me,Lenny,Robert,Vincent, and Jorge went to go check it out. You never knew when zombies would be hidden in a place.

It was three stories with a winding staircase and large windows. Downstairs there were hallways leading into rooms and a huge kitchen to the side. The living room was large and had nice decorations. The house was silent but floorboards were creaking over our heads confirming our suspicions. We weren't alone in this house.

I went up first and we split up. Maybe not the smartest thing but we were trying to be quick. It was always sunset and it was dangerous to be out at night.

I cautiously walked and the floorboards creaked. Something flew out at me from a doorway and I screamed.

"SHHHH!!!!," a strangers voice said.

"Your alive?" I asked. Duh. I felt like an idiot there. The zombies couldn't talk.

He smiled and i could see his features more clearly.

His hair came down to his shoulders and was brown. He had large brown deer eyes and the biggest muscles I have seen on a dude since the world ended.

"Are you alone?" He asked.

I shook my head and then all of a sudden he was thrown off my body.

Robert was there and they were aiming their guns at him.

"STOP!" I yelled. "He's alive."

Lenny crept forward and then said "He is."

"Are you alone here?" I asked.

He shook his head and pointed to another room.

Inside there was little girl and a teenage looking girl.

They looked scared when we walked in but then realized we were human.

They smiled.

"Is this house safe?" I asked

"Mommy and daddy are there," the little girl chirped. Then I realized what she meant.

"They got bit?" I asked her. She nodded and then burst into tears.

So at least we knew there were zombies to tend to.

I quickly loaded up my crossbow and began heading upstairs. A knot beginning to form in my belly.
