Bare blistered feet hit the soft golden sand, she ran, she ran and never looked back, never staying in one place for too long, never got attached to anyone, never spoke unless she needed too. Whenever she left, she never looked back.
It was a promise she made to herself years ago, her and her friends had run into some trouble with a group of draculoids. Her and (b/f/n) fought as hard as they could, but they got cornered. Her friend knew that one of them could escape if the other distracted the draculoids, or else they'd both be killed. (B/f/n) took that responsibility.
'Run, and whatever you do, do not look back, do you promise me?"
That was the last words she ever heard her friend say. She ran, she wasn't proud of her cowardice, her dreams were filled with images of her dead friend. Even if she didn't see what happened to them, her mind never stopped creating images that would haunt her forever.
(Y/N), that was her name, she couldn't remember her surname.
Her (H/C) hair flowed behind her in greasy knots, she couldn't remember the last time she brushed it, let alone even washed it or showered. Her arms and legs were covered in sand that got stuck to her skin due to being drenched in sweat. Tiny cuts and bruises decorated her (S/C) skin.
Her lips were dry and cracked like sand paper, the last time she drunk water was yesterday.
Just a little further
A building came into sight. A glimmer of hope sparked her eyes and fed into her determination. Sweat soaked through her faded yellow tee shirt and stained her white shorts.
(Y/N)'s vision began to blur, the world started to spin.
No, no, please,
She stumbled over her own feet, tears stung her eyes,
So close
Her head ached and her ears began to ring.
Please....please...
The building was so close, just not close enough.
She began to slow and her vision her darker and darker.
Not like this...
Two metres in front of the mystery building, she collapsed on the floor, passed out.
She never saw the four pairs of boots rush to her side. She never heard the desperate voices. She never felt the pair of arms lift her up. And she will never know. Well, not yet anyway.
