Richie had decided that he wanted to take Eddie out on a date, not like, an obvious 'this is a date isnt it?' thing. Just a small day for them, he wanted to make Eddie feel good after witnessing what he went through when he was at home.
Richie had laid in his bed and thought of what he could do for Eddie to have a good day. He closed his eyes and thought about what Eddie would like best in terms of things to do. Then it came to him.
He was going to pack a small lunch for them and take him to the quarry for the day, a little picnic together. Just them.
"Oh Eddie-poo? Dearest?" Richie called out in a stupid voice as he approached Eddie's locker.
Eddie rolled his eyes and smiled a small bit before turning around."Hi Richie." he said softly. After what had happened the other night, Eddie felt like he trusted Richie more, and the idea of him being in love with Richie was constantly swimming through his thoughts.
"So my dear spaghetti, I propose that you let me take you out for a surprise tonight. What d'ya say?" he questioned, looking down at Eddie with a large cheshire cat grin
Eddie frowned a bit, "Aw im sorry Richie, I have cheer practice tonight. And I can't miss." he looked at Richie sadly and saw Richie's smile falter for a moment before he gently punched Eddie in the arm and smiled
"No matter, always another time." deep down Richie was really upset, he had been planning this for the whole weekend and was disappointed that it wouldn't happen that night, he was often impatient. He had even set everything up in childish glee of the idea of a date with Eddie.
Eddie saw Richie's disguised disappointment and frowned a bit, thinking about what he could do.
"You know what? Fuck cheer, Can you pick me up from my house?" he shut his locker and looked up at Richie.
"Um, yea. Yea of course, little rebel Eddie huh?" he flung his arm over Eddies shoulder and pulled him closer with a stupid grin on his face, deep down he was glad that they could go out that night.
"Maybe you're rubbing off on me Tozier." Eddie smiled simply and looked up at him, Richie avoiding his eyes by how much blush covered his face on the terms of Eddie skipping cheer practice for him.
Throughout all the day, all Richie could think about was the date, making sure in his mind that every single tiny minute detail would be absolutely perfect for Eddie's standards, nothing he was supposedly allergic to, nothing unhealthy, a change of clothes, incase they went swimming of course, Eddie's inhaler, his swim trunks.
Richie also imagined what might happen, what if Eddie kissed him like they were in a fairy tale and they had a perfect night? Or on the other hand what if Richie fucked everything up like he usually did and Eddie ended up hating him? God he was so nervous.
All Eddie thought about all day was what could go on that night, was it a date? was Richie going to magically confess his undying love for Eddie and they would live happily ever after? What if Eddie tried to make a move and Richie was like 'Woah im not gay.' and Richie wouldn't ever talk to him again because he thought he was gross?
At the end of the day, both boys were in their own heads about the date that night, looking back, Richie supposes he should've been watching out better where he was going.
