Chapter 8

"Okay we're almost there." Ethan said as he guided a blind folded Emma to the surprise he's been working on all week.

"Is all this really necessary?" Emma asked.

"Of course it is. Alright now watch your step." Ethan said.

"You're not taking me to my death are you." Emma said.

"Where's the fun in that." Ethan said, "I'd be bored without you." He confessed.

"We've stopped moving. Does that mean we're there?" Emma asked.

"Technically we're here." Ethan vaguely answered.

"Someone better not jump out at me when I take this blind fold off." Emma grumbled to herself.

"Alright, you can take it off." Ethan said.

"Finally, what's so important that I- " Emma cut herself off. She was speechless. Emma didn't have any expectations, but she definitely wasn't expecting to be 2000 feet up in the air.

"What? How?" Emma asked in shock.

"I had a lot of help from my Assistant Courtney to pull this off, but it was worth it to see the look on your face." Ethan shyly admitted.

"But why a hot air balloon?" Emma giggled.

"Because I know how much you hate cameras. I didn't want to risk having our date ruined by fans or paparazzi, so I figured a hot air balloon would give us the privacy we want. I doubt someone is going to crash our date this high up in the air." He chuckled.

"Ethan I don't know what to say." Emma said. She was truly touched by the gesture.

Ethan smiled."You haven't even seen the rest yet." Ethan said.

Emma looked behind him and low and behold it was the most romantic dinner set up she has ever seen.

"Is that wine?" Emma asked.

"Wines. I know how much you've always wanted to go wine tasting and its hard to go on a wine tour without being recognized so I brought the tour to you."

"Ethan." Emma whined, "This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me." Emma said tearing up.

"Come here." Ethan cooed. He held his arms wide open and she didn't hesitate to leap into them.

"Thank you." Emma's voice was muffled against his shoulder.

"I'm glad you liked it. I wanted it to be perfect." Ethan said.

"Liked it? I loved it! All of this is really considerate E." Emma said.

Ethan was relieved that everything worked out. He kept thinking the worst case scenarios. What if she hated heights? or what if she was claustrophobic? These thoughts kept running through his mind, but luckily he had Courtney there to help him make his plan a reality. All the worrying was worth it to see the gigantic smile on her face.

"I hope you're hungry. I brought us pasta." Ethan said.

" You did not." Emma said in disbelief.

Ethan could barely breathe because of how hard he was laughing. " It took Grayson 4 months to grow his eyebrow back. My parents refused to let us watch science videos again." Ethan wheezed.

"Oh my god, our kids are going to be little devils if they take after you." Emma laughed.

"Kids huh." Ethan teased.
