"Emma, have you seen my keys?" Olivia yelled across the apartment.
"Im busy!" Emma yelled back as she hopped on one foot. Trying to pull her Doc Martins on.
"Its a yes or no answer bitch." Olivia mumbled.
"Nevermind found them!"
They were both running late to work. Olivia had the brilliant idea of going clubbing last night, and their hungover state caused them to sleep through their alarms.
She recently broke up with her long term boyfriend Kevin. Olivia begged Emma to stay after her bartending shift to get shitfaced with her. Something about girl code and being a good friend. She needed someone to vent to about her heartbreak.
Kevin was a nice guy, but it just so happens that he found his soul mate two weeks ago. He fought hard to stay away from her. However, that's not how life works.
You see, there's a no choice in whether you want to be around them or not. Your body is naturally drawn to their aura and an overwhelming feeling of contentness consumes your body. When you meet them something changes within your mind. They're like a rush of dopamine. You cant help but want more. Eventually your soul will seek theirs to finally reunite, and recieve the ultimate blissful state you have never known.
Olivia knew they never stood a chance, but it still hurt nevertheless. Most people who went against the natural order of life eventually faced the reprocussions. There's been cases of people bypassing their true soulmates, but all that comes from it is pure misery in the long run.
"Bye! See you later tonight." Emma said as she rushed out the door.

The doorbell chimed as Emma ran into the coffee shop."Emma, you're late. 2 hours late."
"I know, I know. Im sorry." She apologized to her boss Jason. Pleading for mercy with her best puppy dog eyes.
Mr. Nash was like a second father to her, so she knew she wouldn't be fired for being late. However, being judged and punished was a whole different story.
"Go tell Amanda that today is her lucky day. You'll be taking over the bathroom cleanup today."
Emma grumbled "yes sir" and made her way over to the counter.
"And dont make this a habit!" Jason teasingly yelled from behind her.
"Hey!" Amanda excitingly greeted Emma.
"Hey." Emma said a little less enthusiastically than Amanda. "Guess who got your bathroom shift."
Amanda gasped. " I think im going to cry. You being late is the best present Ive ever recieved."
"Gee thanks. It cant be that bad right? I mean c'mon every one who comes in looks civil."
"Keeping lying to yoursef Em. You and I both know that every human has bodily functions they cant control." Amanda shivered as she recalled all the disgusting stuff she's cleaned up over the years.
"Thank god Im having a well deserving break today. How could i ever repay you." Amanda jokingly said.
"So why were you late?" She said switching topics.
"Don't get me started."
Luckily for Emma a customer came in.
"Ill tell you later."

Her shift was the same as always. A steady flow of traffic coming in from the near by university. Caffeine was every collge kids preferred drug.
