I get to the kitchen and pick up a piece of cake that was left over. As I walk to Ashley's house, I eat the cake and think how I want to do this. I decide to just slip into bed without waking her.
I unlock the door and let myself in. I made sure that the door was locked again. Then I use my phone as a flashlight and made my way to the bedroom.
I instantly see her laying there. Such a beautiful sight. Her long black hair laying behind her unbound of the braid that she had it in today. Ashley was on her side, facing away from Drake. Her right hand was tucked under her cheek. Her feet were outside the cover. I'm not a foot person, but her feet are so small and cute. I put my phone on the nightstand as I took off my shirt, boots, socks, and jeans. I sat on the bed gently. I was trying to decide how to cover, or if I should cover. I hear Drake snoring.
"Trevor? Where is Trace?" Ashley asked in a husky sleepy voice. Tingles rode down my back.
"Hey angel! I didn't mean to wake you." I said quietly. "He's in the main house asleep. Can I stay?"
"Yeah. Come on." She raised the blanket. I laid down beside her. "Want to tell me how you got here and Trace is in the house?"
"It's a convoluted story. Sure you want to hear it tonight?"
"Yes and you smell like chocolate." She put her head on my shoulder. So I put my arm around her.
I chuckled as I began to tell her how I came to be in her bed. "I stopped by mom's kitchen. I've really missed her cooking."
I pressed my luck and kissed her forehead. She didn't shove me out of the bed. "I want a real relationship with you. Trace knows that and gave me his key. I hope that you don't mind."
Ashley snuggled closer to me and put her arm on my stomach. "I don't mind as long as all three of you don't try to take over my bed. Good night Trevor." She squeezed me in a hug.
I returned the squeeze. "Good night love." I kissed her forehead again before falling to sleep.
I wake up the next morning and look at my watch. Five o'clock. I wonder what time Ashley will get up. We are still laying like we were when we went to sleep. I didn't want to move, but I have to piss. I ease out from under her head. I take care of business and return to see Ashley standing in front of her dresser. I put my arms around her from behind and pull her to me.
"Good morning love." I kiss her temple.
"Good morning Trev." She turned in my arms and slid her's around my waist.
Ashley laid her head on my chest, it reached only to my armpits. "I don't trust easy. But I feel like I know you already. The way that Trace and Drake always talked about you. If Trace trusted you enough to give you a key, I know that my trust is safe with you. I haven't had a lot of experience with relationships. I'm just hoping that you will be patient with me."
"Love, I'm a soldier. The military is famous for changing your plans for you. That teaches a person patience. I'm here for you." Drake's snoring stopped.
Ashley whispered as she looks up at me. "We have ears. Continue this later?"
"Of course!" I replied. I leaned down and kissed her cheek. Then I let her go, reluctantly. "What do you have on the agenda for today?"
"Check on the mares. A few of them are ready to deliver. I'm keeping a close eye on them. Then Trace and crew are bringing yearlings to me. They need tags and shots. That should take a couple days. At least from what I hear."
"Mind if I help out? I'm pretty good at shots and tagging."
"Sure! But no pressure. From what I hear, I'm a hardass boss to get along with."
