"Hey, I need to talk to you," Blake said, my amazing boyfriend for five months now. He stood in the doorway of my chemistry class with a serious look. I approached him and stared at his deep-electric blue eyes for a while. No matter how many times I’d gazed into them, those eyes made me fall in-love over and over again. This time, though, something was different; there was a heavy burden weighing him down.
I wonder what’s wrong, I thought to myself. Instinctively, I ran through all the events of the day in my head; perhaps his cause of irritation had something to do with me. But from the moment I woke up this morning, to the time I arrived at my school through all the drowsy classes I wished I could've been exempted from… I couldn't think of anything that could make him act this way.
"Yeah, sure. You can tell me now, if you'd like," I told him, trying to manage a small smile on my face.
"I mean, we need to have a serious talk. In private, unless you want everyone to hear it," he gazed into my eyes. This time, I could see a solemn Blake in front of me. Not a single bit of his tone or the way he stood firmly over me was anything less than serious.
"Um, I guess we can talk about it in the art room. It's empty," I suggested to him. My heart was beating fast. What was this? I thought something was really wrong. I had a feeling that I wouldn't like whatever he was going to say.
The way to the art room was only five blocks away from my chemistry classroom but since the classrooms were pretty wide, it was quite far. The walk to our destination was quiet. It seemed like there was something forcefully lodging a distance between us.
Blake was somewhat popular in school. I couldn't deny the truth that Blake was handsome. He was six feet tall and had thin muscular body which looked perfect. His blue eyes always sparkled like shimmering stars in the clear night sky. I could tell that being the captain of the basketball team was a total plus to his hotness.
Because Blake was a well-known student, it was really hard to get rid of bitches around. Just now, as we went along the hallway, some girls gave him the "flirt looks". I caught one winking at him.
Hey! Bitch, he's mine! Can't you see I'm here beside him? Am I invisible or something?
I knew these girls already knew that we had a problem—that was why they were flirting with him and tried to get his attention. If only we were not in this serious situation, I would really seize the hair of these flirts as hard as I could or slap them one by one. I probably could put their face in the mud or even in the garbage. It was where sluts belong. I usually didn’t have anything against them, but this time my nervousness really agitated me.
Finally, we arrived at our destination. I couldn't see any students or teachers at all, as expected. Blake closed the door behind us, took a deep breath, and began to speak, "I know this is going to be hard for you but—"
I heard this line in movies and television too many times to know what would come afterwards. But, please no, don't tell me the rest of that line. Please.
I tried to open my mouth to speak but I ran out of words to say.
"We need to break up this relationship. This commitment. You know? Start a new life, a new beginning. We could just be frie—" he announced.
