CHAPTER THREE

The bright light from the sun woke me up. Wait, what? The curtains were down last night, so the sunlight shouldn't reach my eyes. Why is it so bright? I rubbed my aching eyes and tried to open them. I saw mom pulling down the tie to let the curtains up. I struggled because of this very shiny light, pulling the blanket over my head.

"Mom! I'm still sleepy," I moaned and yawned.

"You need to wake up honey. It's already ten am," she informed me. She sat on my bed moving beside me. "I prepared breakfast for you."

"Mhhh, still sleepy mom," I said, almost in a whisper. Then suddenly, a thought came in my mind. Mom prepared breakfast? There might be some important things she wants to tell me. I bet she hasn’t eaten her breakfast yet.

"Come on, darling. We're going to have breakfast together. I have an important thing to discuss with you." Bingo! I guess it right. Her voice sounded like me-myself-and-I-is-going-to-be-mad-at-her. I quickly glanced at her and she smiled pleadingly to me. I sat up on my bed and stretched out my arms.

"Important? Be sure it's not disappointing mom. What is it all about?" I asked and yawned again.

"Well, I don't know if it's a good or bad news for you but it's a really important matter."

"Okay, I'll be there in five," I replied.

"Alright then, I'll be waiting." I watched her disappear through my huge door. I immediately went to the bathroom and sat on the floor for a while. I felt so lazy this morning. I remembered all the things Miles and I did last night and I realized we were really hilarious.

"I'm going to miss this." I thought about these words which came from Miles’ mouth yesterday. What did she mean about this? I kept on thinking, and thinking then suddenly I came to a conclusion that maybe—just maybe, she was going to leave me anytime soon. She was going somewhere far from here. No way!

All of the sudden, my phone rang, cutting me through my thoughts. I went to my bed where my phone was located. I let out a sigh when I saw that it was mom calling. Well, I understood why she called. It was because even though we live in one house, we were quite apart. Our house was just too big for us that it took quite some time to go upstairs and head to my room.

"Yes, mom, give me ten more minutes. Just wait for a while. I'll be there after I'm done here," I told her curtly as soon as I slid the icon on the phone to answer her call.

"Okay, don't take too long dear," she ended the call.

I headed to my bathroom again. This time, I ignored the thoughts going inside my mind and concentrate on fixing myself. I washed my face with my facial cleanser and brushed my teeth. I just woke up so, I'll have my shower after I eat breakfast. I proceeded to my closet to change my nighties. I grabbed a pair of shorts and a loose shirt. Just my typical clothes at home. After clothes, next was hair. I didn't feel like fixing it so I grabbed a hair tie from my drawer and tied it in a ponytail. I glanced at the mirror to check if I was all fixed up. Face, check. Clothes, check. Hair, a-kind-of-check. I walked towards my door to go down and eat-with-serious-talk with my mom.
