Amara and Elena were tending to their wounds while I sat out in the hallway with Noah. My stomach was in knots as I was squatting against the wall rubbing my belly. Man, I'm hungry. Noah asks me, "You alright?"
"Feels like I haven't eaten in days," I answered.
I also had to pee. Noah holds out a small white box and places it in front of me. My eyes widened as I looked up at him. Noah says to me, "Once the other guard comes back. Go in there and take the test."
Feels like I had been sitting here forever waiting. Thankfully Noah gave me a protein bar to snack on. The guard shows up as I stuffed the wrapper into my jumper. The guard knocks on the door and says in Spanish, "Hurry up in there."
Both of them come out and look a lot better. "Hey." I smiled.
Amara says to me, "Thank you for what you did today."
"I'm sure you would've done the same for me," I replied.
The guard gets behind Amara and Elena, directing them to move. Elena asks me, "Are you coming?"
I told her, "Go. I'll be fine." I hope.
Ten minutes after they left, I took the test and gave it to Noah. He looks at me and asks, "Well?"
I told him, "I don't know because I haven't looked at it."
"Why not?" Noah asked.
I told him, "Because I've dealt with enough surprises for one day. When I find out, I want to have somewhat of a clear head."
"I understand." He replied. "I will tell you at a later time."
Noah brought me into the main hall to get some dinner. The first thing I noticed was a lot of yellow and very few purples. Just relax Taylor. I heard Francis call out my name, "Taylor. Over here."
I didn't think I would make any friends in this place. Rod, when I met him, it was like seeing a distant relative. When I met Francis, I didn't know him at all, and he didn't know me. But he excepted me, and it felt good to be expected for once. I'm not used to anyone being so expecting towards me.
It was nice for a change not to feel so isolated.
I grabbed my tray and went to go sit down with Francis and a few others sitting with him. I told Francis, "Your gonna have to tell me the rules for this place."
Francis then says, "I've only been here six months, and I still don't understand the majority of the rules."
Then the woman sitting next to Francis says in Italian, "It's because the pigs keep changing them."
"Probably trying to catch us off guard or just for there own amusement," I replied. Francis looked at me surprised. "What?" I asked with a mouth full of food.
"Where did you learn to speak Italian?" Francis asked.I told them both, "I learned from my grandmother. Along with a few other languages. My grandmother enjoyed traveling, and when she would go to another country, she would learn the language first herself and then teach me."
"I'll have to teach you Gaelic."
"So, are you Irish or Scottish?"
"Scottish."
"Hmm. I thought I had you pegged as an Irish lad. Well, I guess I'll hold you to the Gaelic lesson." I replied. A buzzer goes off and flashes a purple light. "What's going on?"
Francis answers, "New prisoner must have been captured from either Division 12 or 13?"
I looked up towards the balcony behind us and was just stunned. Heather!
