Chapter Fourteen

Patrick carefully puts me down as I asked Rod, "Did it work?"

Rod adjusts his hearing aid back to its normal setting and smiles up at all of us, "They heard us. Loud and clear." We all celebrated quietly amongst ourselves as Rod added, "Now all we have to do is wait."

I then had to mention, "All of us are going to have to be on guard. First thing is someone's going to have to tell the others about this."

Rod answers, "I'll let Francis know. I'll make sure he doesn't tell anyone outside of the eleven of us."

"Good. The less that know the better." I replied. "And second we are going to need to be on watch rotation guarding Elena and Amara. Who knows what Ivan is capable of."

Before I could say anything further the intercom goes off, "Taylor Mason. Report to your cell block gate."

Heather tells me, "I'll handle the rest and fill you in later."

"Emmanuel Petrov. Report to your cell block gate."

Both Emmanuel and I left together for the gate. Once we got to the gate we met up with Noah. He told us as the gate was opening, "Melinda wants to meet with the both of you in her suite."

"Who's Melinda?" I asked.

Noah answers, "Vladimirs wife."

Having not heard from Vladimir in over a month could be a good sign. Right now though I'm a little concerned with meeting his wife. In my time being locked up here I've never once laid eyes on Melinda. For all I know she could just be a female carbon copy of her husband. I just knew I needed to be prepared for anything to happen. 

"Emmanuel, I think its time for another talk." Said Ivan out of nowhere.

Well almost anything.

Ivan followed behind us on our way to see Melinda. Ivan says to me, " We meet again."

Emmanuel shielded me from Ivan as he hisses at him, "Leave her alone!"

"Alright." Ivan replied defensively holding his hands up. He then asks Emmanuel, "How's your girlfriend doing Emmanuel?" Emmanuel didn't answer Ivan, but I could see him tensing up. Just then Ivan said her name, "Amara Kane is her name, am I right." How did he know?

Emmanuel froze as Ivan was slowly creeping up behind him. Ivan then asks, "Is she the reason your abandoning our division? Are you abandoning our family for this girl?"

"She is none of your concern Ivan!" Emmanuel snapped.

Ivan then says, "It is a problem actually if Amara is turning you against me, against our families legacy. And if that problem becomes a threat to the division. I may just have to eliminate both Amara and her sister altogether."

Emmanuel lost it as he quickly turned around and threw Ivan up against the wall, "If you so much as touch one hair on either of their heads so help me god! I will kill you Ivan!"

Just then we heard a woman's voice, "I believe that is quite enough." Emmanuel let Ivan go as Ivan ran off. We turned our attention back to the woman in front of us as she says, "You must be Taylor and Emmanuel. I've been expecting you."

Being in Melinda's office was very different than being in Vladimir's office. The vibe was calm, but I wasn't falling for its effects. Melinda was actually very beautiful. She had brown spun up into a tightly kept bun. Her uniform wasn't the same as some of the female guards in the prison.
