"So, you're just going to leave? Without even saying goodbye?" Joshua said watching me pack my bags with his arms crossed. I stopped with a sigh and looked up to him, "look, they'll be fine without me" I said fighting back tears, as I look away from him and continue to pack.
"How do you know? You've never seen them without you, but i have." He places a hand on my shoulder to stop me once more, "and it breaks my heart to see them that way. You have something here, Alex, you have a family now"
"Don't you think i know that?" I said in a quiet whisper, a tear escaped my eye, "i love you guys to death, but..." I shook my head, "it happened once, I... I just can't let it happen again" my hands shook as I remember what happened, "i just can't" I whispered, zipping my bag, i hoisted it over my shoulder and looked at Joshua, tears pouring down my cheeks as well as his, "I'm sorry, but I can't lose any more people I care about. I need to do this"
"You know how Nick's going to react, right?" I gave him a sad smile and nodded. Then headed out the door, leaving friends behind.
I looked behind me, the starry night sky is now dawn, I looked at the old cottage we decided to reside in, a tear falls as i spin around quickly, running into further into the dark forest.
