Chapter 20

October 20th

Jackie began to feel alone. She was glad that she and the kids were going back to Washington. Jack had returned ten days prior. She loved the new home but it got lonely without his Massachusetts voice, his complains from Bobby about no 'baby news' and him wanting to listen to the Camelot record. Jackie would play it at night but she just got upset that he wasn't there. 

While staying at the farm, Jack had his Cabinet members flown over every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; spending the rest of the days relaxing with Jackie and the kids. But now, for both of them, it was back to business. 

Today they would be flying back to Andrew's Air Force Base and then back to the White House. Jackie sat in the living room in her black Givenchy suit, her baby bump just starting to show. 

Caroline tapped on the door. "Mummy we're ready" Caroline said. Jackie sighed before getting up and taking her children's hand. She clasped their hands before heading outside. After locking the door, they travelled in the limosuine to the runway. Air Force One stood ready for them. 

Jackie for some reason seemed silent. John appeared excited to see his father again but Caroline knew something was wrong with her mother. When they got aboard the plane, John went to the bedroom leaving Caroline and Jackie together. "Mummy?" Caroline asked. Jackie's eyes suddenly looked baggy and red, like she had been sobbing. 

"Hmm?" Jackie woke herself from her daze. "Mummy, are you okay?" Caroline asked. Jackie nodded. "I'm fine". Caroline was certainly not convinced. 

"You don't look it".

Jackie tried to cover up what she had experienced the night before. Last night, Jackie had received a disturbing call from Aristotle Onassis. Over the phone he confessed his feelings for her and how much he wished she could get into bed with him. He said he had heard of her recent pregnancy announcement. He asked her why she would want another Kennedy. Jackie tried to hang up with Ari wouldn't allow her to bid him goodbye. 

What Ari had said on the phone disturbed Jackie greatly. It sent shivers down her spine, it actually scared her. "I just miss daddy" Jackie lied to her daughter. Luckily Caroline fell for it. Jackie however, was hiding a deep secret. She couldn't wait to get home, and reveal it all to her beloved husband.
