With Brian being released from the hospital the following week, the guitarist was going to be out of action for at least three weeks until he got better and the boys thought that the best course of action was just to go on in the studio without him.

It was strange, Brian was always a constant in there and to get used to him not being there...it just felt wrong.

For everything that they recorded, they didn't do the guitars except for one song. They were going to wait until he did come back but they recorded everything else.

The song that they did record guitars for, that was for John's song.

When he had first brought it up to Freddie and Roger, they were thrilled. He had finally written something but when they heard it and Roger had realised what the meaning behind it was, his face had paled dramatically and the whole time that Freddie was in the booth singing it, he could feel the blonde's shooting daggers to the back of his head as he gave the singer a thumbs up to show him that he was happy with it.

If John remembers correctly, Roger's exact words were 'I don't want to know about your sex life with my cousin'.

Yeah, Roger didn't like the song.

Freddie on the other hand absolutely loved it. It was a love song in John's own way with a little bit of cheekiness in it just for him.

John was nervous though; this was the first song he'd really put forward for the band.

He's got the headphones on, listening to it over again to make sure that it's perfect and so he doesn't hear that Roxanne has entered the studio along with Brian, who felt like he was strong enough to come in and see what they were doing.

How he didn't hear her come in, she didn't know. She wasn't exactly quiet.

"I bring food!" she cheers, practically kicking the door open.

"Our hero!" Freddie grins, tapping John on the shoulder before he gets up to greet her, eyes going over her shoulder to see the guitarist leaning against the doorframe.

"Oh and Brian."

John's clearly too focused on whatever he's doing and Roxanne stops Freddie when he moves to tap him on the shoulder again.

"He's busy," she smiles, "Now, I've got Roger's turkey club."

"Thank you," he mumbles, taking his bag from her.

"Freddie, your-" she doesn't even get to finish her sentence.

"Thank you!" he kisses her cheek.

"Your soup, Mr May," she hums and he takes it gratefully.

He might have been up and about but he still wasn't 100%. He, in his own words 'Didn't have his shit together' but he was getting better thanks to his friends.

And Kayla.

Roxanne hadn't said a word about what she had witnessed in the hospital. It wasn't her place and until they were ready, their relationship would stay between the three of them. Four if you count Paul.

Brian joins Roger at the small table while she goes to sit by John, silently placing his bag of food in front of him and finally, he looks up from the mixing desk, eyes lighting up as she smiles down at him.

"Hey!" he greets, slipping the headphones off, "They never told me you were...why didn't you tell me she was here?"

"I tried," Freddie shrugs, "But darling, you were in your own world, weren't you?"
