The first thing Y/n noticed was the sound. A sharp mechanical alarm cut through her sleep, pulling her awake instantly. Her eyes opened, and for a brief second, she didn't know where she was. The bedroom was dim, the ship gently rocking beneath her, but the warning sirens continued. The sound was unfamiliar enough that her body reacted before her mind caught up.

Years of fighting had trained her well. She sat up immediately, already searching for the source of the danger. Beside her, Yonji woke much more slowly and unlike her, he wasn't alarmed. He was smiling and then he laughed.

Y/n turned toward him, still trying to understand what was happening. "What?"

That only made him laugh harder. It wasn't exactly mocking it was more like he had just witnessed something far too entertaining to keep to himself. The alarms continued, followed by a deep vibration running through the ship. The entire structure was moving.

Only then did Y/n remember. They weren't approaching a normal harbor. They were approaching Germa.,The kingdom was beginning its arrival sequence. The massive sections of the floating kingdom were separating, each part moving into position before reconnecting as one enormous structure. The sound of gears, engines, and metal shifting surrounded them.

To Yonji, it was routine.

To Y/n, who had only experienced Germa as a strange floating fortress, it was still something impossible to ignore. She looked toward the walls, then back at him. The amused expression on his face made it obvious he had noticed her reaction.

He leaned back, completely satisfied. "You looked ready to fight."

Y/n frowned. "The alarms sounded like an attack."

"On Germa?"

The way he said it made her narrow her eyes. He was enjoying this a whole lot.

Yonji had spent days seeing her handle actual enemies without hesitation, giving orders under cannon fire and walking through a battlefield like she belonged there and now, the thing that had caught her off guard was simply Germa moving the way Germa always did. It was, unfortunately for her, very funny. "You should have seen yourself."

Y/n ignored him and looked away. "I'm still learning how this place works."

"Yes."

His grin widened. "Apparently the first lesson is not panicking when your own kingdom starts transforming."
