~~Ben's POV~~

"Okay okay, I really didn't mean for it to happen. All I was doing was biking home from school, that's it! Believe me, I didn't want to see what I saw." I said.

"That doesn't make it okay! You intruded in their private business!" Beverly yelled at me. I hate it when we argue.

"Why did they tell you anyway? We could have just pretended that it never happened."

"Well I'm the only person that knows they are dating, well, not anymore. You ruined their privacy."

Of course.

I couldn't believe Rich and Eddie would tell Bev, or any of the losers for that matter. This is one of those things that you are just supposed to ignore until the problem goes away.

*record scratch, freeze frame*

Yeah, that's me. Getting yelled at by my girlfriend isn't the best thing that could be happening right now. You might say "Ben, fella, how did you get yourself into such a pickle?"

Well, nothing. I did absolutely nothing.

This all started one day when I decided to take a short cut on the way home from school. I normally bike around the kissing bridge, even though it takes more time. Henry Bowers and his gang like to hang out there sometimes.

But today, for the first time in about a year, I went through the bridge. My mom was expecting me home a while ago and I didn't want her to worry about me, considering what the Bowers gang did to me that one time.

I wanted to ride through the bridge pretty quickly but also quiet, just in case they were gonna jump me or something. I really hated being here, at the bridge, that is.

Before I walked across with my bike, I trudged over to the carvings on the wood. My fingers grazed over the indents in the hard wood. There were so many different names. "Rose and Denny, G + F, HT and QL." All of the names have stories behind them. It's so incredibly poetic. Maybe one day Beverly and I can carve our names into this wood.

I saw every carving, all with potential. I loved the idea of seeing these randos declare their love on a plank of wood. Everyone will see their name, but won't know their story.

I eventually came across one with only one initial. R +.
I wonder who they didn't love, or who didn't love them. I won't ever know. I guess that is the point of these though.

I kicked my bike stand up and hopped onto my bike. I almost started to pedal but then I heard something. It was almost definetly Henry. I had no chance at survival. So, I got off of my bike and sat on the ground in a ball.

After a few moments of peace, I perked my head up, expecting to see the entire Bowers gang waiting for me.

Instead, nothing. Although, I still heard rustling in the bushes. It still could have been Bowers hiding in order to surprise me. So I picked my bike up off the ground and got on it. I almost started to pedal but then I heard the rustling again.

For the final time, I got off of my bike. I groaned as I kicked the bike stand down, tired of getting on and off of it.

I walked near the edge of the wooden railing to hear the bushes again, but a bit louder this time. So I hopped over the fence and slid down the hill on my butt. I could feel the grass stains forming on the back of my pants, but it didn't bother me.

After a few seconds, I reached the bottom of the hill. I couldn't hear the noise anymore, which made me disappointed. I came all the way down this hill for nothing. It was probably just an animal, but my curiosity got the better of me.

I was now stuck at the bottom of the hill, thinking for a moment about how I was going to get back up to the bridge. That's when I heard it again.

My interest was peaked and my curiosity had been restored. I then again, heard another noise, but this time, it wasn't the bushes. I was pretty sure that there were people around.

I wanted to find them, but I didn't necessarily need them to find me. I just wanted to see if I knew the couple. Well, it was most likely a couple. I am at the kissing bridge, aren't I?

I only had to go around a big tree that was in front of me to find two people sucking face. It was a gross sight to see.

The taller kid backed his much shorter girlfriend against a tree and was kissing her fiercely. It was disgusting to watch so I slowly backed away.

I was about to walk up the trail behind me, but then I stepped on a branch. It made a cracking noise that caught the couple's attention.

They turned to me with a deer-in-headlights look.
I finally saw the girl's face. Sweet Lord, it was two dudes. Not that I care, it was just weird to see in Derry.

Wait, oh God. It was Richie and Eddie.
I should have been able to tell before from the back of Richie's shaggy hair and Hawaiian shirt.

I gulped loudly. I could hear the echo of my heartbeat. Richie just stared at me.

Eddie shot Richie a wide-eyed look and then ran towards me, dodging tree roots and fallen branches.
"Ben! Ben! Please don't tell anyone about this! You weren't supposed to see this. Just pretend it never happened, please!" Eddie yelled.

"Uh, I um, okay." I didn't really care what they did in their free time, I just didn't want to see that ever again. Not that I'm homophobic or anything, just that PDA grosses me out.

"Oh thank God." Eddie had a wave of relief wash over him. He relaxed with a sigh and walked back to Richie.

"I guess we better go now, huh? Haystack wants our designated spot, Eds." Richie said to Eddie.

"N-no it's okay. I'll just leave..." I said. I expected this problem to go away, since Eddie said it would. I guess I was mistaken.

Bev had been finished expressing her anger towards me for messing with our friends. I felt even worse about what I did after she yelled at me than during.

I apologized to her but she didn't want an apology. She wanted me to give Richie and Eddie one. So that's what we did. We both went to Eddie's house first. Luckily, they were both there.

I expressed my regret and then we let them be. Bev and I started going back to my house, but on the way, we stopped at the kissing bridge.

She stopped and kicked her bike stand down. I just let my bike fall in the dirt. I was eager to see what she was doing, stopping like this.

She pulled a pocket knife out of her boot and carved her first initial. She handed me the knife when she was done.
"You w-want me to c-carve my name with y-yours?" I stuttered, just like Bill, but not on purpose.

She nodded silently and I bent down to carve my initial.

I finished it up with a sense of perfection. I then folded up the pocket knife and handed it back to Beverly. She gave me a quick kiss on the cheek for doing this with her.

I responded with a kiss on the lips.
