The reverend sighed. The angels would be missing Rachel. She was by far the most efficient.

On another hand, he was relieved that she wasn't just above him anymore. She started to scare him.

-Everything is ok Father?

-Yes, really great Cathy. Go back to your floor now.

-Actually... You are on my floor.

-Oh...

He shook his head and went to the elevator.

-At least the problem is solved...

Once he reached his floor, the reverend headed to his church. He took the Bible on the display and started to read. He knew the text by heart of course but he needed to focus his attention on something else.

An elevator sound echoed in the room. Soon enough, Eddie appeared, visibly embarrassed.

-Erm... Father ? May I have a word with you ?

-About what subject, said the reverend without stopping his reading.

-I wanted to know what would happened to Rachel, that's all.

Finally lifting his head up from his book, the father gave his son a deadly cold stare.

-I do not think that matter is one of your concern Eddie. Go back to your floor and just wait for the next sacrifice.

Eddie gritted his teeth and got out of the room silently.

-Damn old geezer, he mumbled while entering the elevator cabin.

-Useless brat, groaned the reverend at the same time.

-------------

It is cold. Very cold. My feet hurt.

-A scripture on the wall...

"One who is honest with oneself will see the path open."

I put my hand on the wall. It vibrates slightly.

I enter another room. A typewriter is in front of me and starts to write :

"Who are you ? What are you looking for? Why are you here ?"

-I am Rachel Gardner. I'm looking for my parents.

The sound of an elevator made the walls shake. I went back in the corridor and two doors opened. I breathed in slowly and entered. The cabin closed and went up.
