I don't wanna make everything in here a shipping oneshot because that gets boring. Thanks for listening. Enjoy this beautiful oneshot being a oneshot.

I strolled through the rather bland area around our hideout, on watch for literally anything or anyone coming too close here. We can't afford letting ourselves get seen, neither by commoners or Dreamgazers and Nightwalkers. We'd be dead on the spot. I had my ally creature summoned and taken along on patrol as well, and packed in some stuff to help me stay energized enough to fend off eventual threats. Soon enough I reached the deep forest surrounding our hideout. They were extremely difficult to get through, but that doesn't matter. I occasionally saw some locals around here, and didn't have any other choice but to make them leave, sometimes even by force.
We had settled down in a less crowded AU already, decimating the population further certainly would've caught the attention of Dreamgazers, and then it'd just be a matter of time until we were found and very likely killed or abused for studies. I couldn't let that happen. Maybe to myself, but not the others.
My attention was caught by a rustling noise nearby that certainly wasn't caused by me or my ally creature. I stopped in my tracks, my ally creature had also noticed and it's head perked up, staring into the direction the rustling came from. I followed it's gaze, to see a local monster. I quietly told my ally creature to stay back and quickly made up an illusion to look more like a common monster of the area, before approaching it. It let out a startled cry and jolted around to face me, before seeing I wasn't a threat and speaking up.
„Oh, hello there. May I ask for your help? I got lost and need help getting out of this forest..."
I nodded, knowing I couldn't change my voice, just my appearance. The slight glitches that sometimes were heard through would certainly blow my cover. Instead of speaking, I motioned the monster to follow me and went ahead a little until I could hear it following me.

A few minutes later we arrived at the edge of the forest, and the monster thanked me, waving me goodbye and running off. I smiled, waved it goodbye as well and dove back into the forest. I was by far not done checking up on everything.

(TIMESKIP cause I'm uncreative and dunno how to continue writing this)

Aside that one encounter I had, everything was as quiet as usual. I had returned to our hideout, and bid my ally creature farewell. Not like we wouldn't see each other again though. I went inside giving the others the usual report of no unusual occurrences, and finally went off to get some rest. I really need it.

//Welp, it's short but better than nothing now, isn't it? I have like 3 more drafts tho, but writers block is being a binch and everything is agony to work on rn, sorry... Also that title is extremely unfitting but I'm too lazy to change it, I hope you're not disappointed in me for clickbait, haha-
