"What do you mean, he's gone?!"
I stood behind Carter as we stood in the main room, everyone whispering as Luther stood there in a pure rage.
I looked around for Devin and thankfully him and Nathan were both present, it would be suspicious if he was missing.
After what Carter told me happened with Devin suggesting we let Kipper go.
And now Kipper is actually gone.
Who could of let him out?
Or.
Who broke in and got him out?
Devin stood there with papers in his hand, I frowned at how stiff he looked.
"I went to check on him right before bed as you requested for me to do, and the window was open as well as him missing." He said as serious as he could.
Something wasn't right.
Devin walked up to Luther with the papers.
"I had Cole and Darian both check the side of the mansion to see if there may be something that could help us, but they came up empty handed. I'm not sure how he got away, Master Luther." He said frowning deeply.
Luther studied the other.
"You're not lying to me, are you boy?" He asked his tone full of anger.
Devin looked at him.
"Of course not, sir. I would never lie about this, you told me before to let it go and so I did. But someone was one step ahead and they broke him out, there is nothing else to be done. If we wait a few days and if no one dies, then maybe no more blood will shed." He stated.
I wasn't sure what made me do it.
But my eyes fell to his hands, and sure enough his knuckles were white.
He was lying through his teeth to cover this up.
My blood ran cold.
Devin let Kipper go?
I looked to Carter and the others and sure enough, they had the same expressions.
We all knew Devin was lying to Luther.
Any time Devin was lying, his knuckles turned white.
It was something small but easy to catch on to.
But Luther had yet to suspect that.
Luther looked to Irina who frowned softly.
"Devin is right, if his suggestion before is correct about that monster Abel having Kipper back, then he would not have a reason to return here." She explained.
I frowned softly looking to Carter.
"I'm going to check on our son." I told him letting his hand go as I left the room.
Why would Devin give Kipper up?
Any time I checked on the other, just for curiosity reasons.
Kipper always seemed shaken up and would constantly mutter to himself.
So why would Devin be okay with this?
Running a hand through my hair I walked into my room, smiling softly as I walked up to the crib.
Cloven slept peacefully as his tiny hand held part of his blanket.
Smiling I walked out of the room and headed down the hall.
I needed to check on Noah.
Days before.
"He's finally waking up." Ebony told me in the room.
I sat at the edge of the bed, my eyes on Noah who's brows were knitting painfully as his eyes finally opened.
He lied there for the longest without saying anything, before his eyes finally met mine and he let out a piercing scream.
"Lexi!" He shoved himself away from me as my heart began to race.
"Noah? What's wrong?" I reached for him but he slapped my hand away.
Glaring harshly at me as the tears fell.
"Mom, Jovi and Paul.. they're all dead because of you!" He screamed at me as my eyes grew wide with tears.
"What? No Noah-"
"Yes! That lady told us everything," he said through gritted teeth.
"You knew vampires existed that daddy was killed by one, and you didn't tell us anything! I can't say anything either because that other boy told me I would be one and if I said anything, I'd be killed too! But I want to die! Mom and the others are all dead because of you being selfish, you lied to us! I HATE YOU!" He screamed at me.
I sat there for the longest time, tears falling as Noah glared at me like I was the most evilest person on this planet.
I couldn't find the words.
He said everything.
He hated me.
And I deserved it.
Even if this was Jovi, she would feel the same way he did.
I lied to them and because of that.
Our family was dead.
"Is that really any way to speak to your sister?" I flinched at the sound of Jace's cold tone entering the room.
Noah looked his way and all I saw was fear in his eyes.
Jace leaned against the door frame, glaring at the fourteen year old.
Ebony looked to Jace.
"Jace, this isn't your business." She told him quietly.
Jace looked to her.
"If Mikey was still alive, would you let him talk to you like that?" He asked her.
Ebony glared.
"Well no-"
"Then shut up and get out." Jace told her as he walked up to us.
His eyes locked on Noah.
"Why do you hate your big sister? Despite her being a dumb blonde at times?" He asked him kneeling down.
I frowned at the other as Noah glared at him.
"She kept the fact you monsters exist from us, mom let them in blindly thinking they were humans! You didn't hear the sounds I heard." He cried as tears fell.
"You didn't watch them snap Jovi's neck as she played with her dolls, you didn't see them throwing Paul around like a toy doll until his heart gave in, and you didn't see mom!" He screamed crying harder now.
I covered my mouth as the tears fell.
Jace knelt there, his brows knitted as he frowned.
"Your sister couldn't tell you because it would of put you more in danger.." Jace thought on his words.
"We are monsters, kid. I won't deny that, but the ones in this house? No one here is a monster, well except this one guy but-"
"Jace." I looked at him as Noah sat there with fear in his eyes.
Jace exhaled sharply.
"My point is, your sister didn't mean for any of this to happen. No one thought the monsters outside of this house, would come to your home and hurt anyone there." He frowned at him.
Noah wiped his eyes.
"Y-Yeah, well they did! And because of that, my family is dead because you exist." He cried.
Jace frowned looking to me.
"Forgive me for this." He said.
Fixing to speak, Jace grabbed Noah's head locking eyes with him.
"Your family was killed, you got turned into a vampire in the process of all of it. You were angry and confused at your sister, but you somehow came to your senses to forgive her. She is sorry, everyone in this house is sorry your family is dead. But you will adjust to this life now, and you can not tell anyone that we exist, or you will risk your own life if you do." He said.
Noah sat there, the fear vanishing as he blinked a few times before his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he passed back out.
"Jace!"
"Hush!" Jace glared at me.
"He's fine, just asleep. Don't freak out." He told me as I frowned deeply.
"So he won't freak out when he wakes up?" I asked him.
Jace looked to Noah.
"No, he'll be fine when he wakes up. Confused, but he'll understand." He told me.
I frowned softly but nodded.
I stood at the bedroom door that Noah was inside.
Its been days since Jace had to resort to compulsion.
But Noah did in fact start to calm down.
I stared at the knob for the longest time.
Would Noah be okay seeing me?
I mean, Jace did use compulsion on him to be angry but to forgive me..
Sighing softly I knocked three times before walking inside.
"Why knock three times?" Noah spun around in his chair with an arched brow.
I shrugged standing inside of his bedroom.
"I figured knocking more than three times was a tad over kill? Plus, mom mentioned your day in school kind of sucked." I stated walking further into the ten year old's room.
Noah rolled his eyes.
"I wouldn't say it sucked, but it wasn't all that great either." He frowned.
I took a seat in his bean bag chair.
"What happened?" I asked him.
Noah threw his hands up, slamming his spiral shut.
"First off, Ms.Brooks totally shut me down on working solo today in English. I don't need a partner to read over a book, sure my reading skills are not the best. But its embarrassing! Secondly, Luke Harris found out about my crush and now he won't talk to me." He said turning around as he pulled his hood over his head to hide his face.
I bit my lip.
"Sounds rough, but have you considered even talking to Luke? Maybe try to explain to him, why you have a crush?" I suggested.
Noah grew red shaking his head.
"No, because now all of the boys in the locker room make fun of me. Talking to him is impossible now, if Mabel Cooke hadn't found that letter then told Luke. This wouldn't of happened!" He cried.
I frowned softly.
"It'll get better." I told him.
But he didn't look too sure.
But I knew.
Somehow things would work out.
"Did you need something?" Noah asked sitting in his bed with a frown, looking at me.
I stood at the door frowning softly.
"I was just checking in on you, are you hungry or anything?" I asked him.
Noah frowned.
"I'm a vampire now, remember? I don't think they eat human food." He said sourly.
I frowned.
"Vampires are not like how they're portrayed in the books, Noah. They can eat, sleep and do whatever a human can.." I told him.
Noah looked at me for a moment.
"I'm not hungry so you can go now." He told me.
My chest grew tight.
"Noah-"
"Just get out already!" He yelled now, throwing a pillow at me as I frowned deeply.
Tears burning both of our eyes but I sighed softly.
"So I guess, you're not up for meeting your nephew then?" I asked him.
Noah blinked.
"My.. nephew?" He asked.
----
"Wow.." His eyes were wide looking at Cloven who stared back at him, blankly.
I smiled softly.
"This is Cloven." I told him.
Noah made a face.
"Let me guess, you came up with the name?" He asked.
I glared softly but smiled.
"Yes actually, its a great name-"
"Yeah if you want to be bullied, you might as well named him Clover and got it over with." He told me.
I sighed.
"He won't get bullied, everyone in this house will make sure of it. But go on, say hi Noah." I told him, pushing him forward as he swatted at me.
Noah studied him for a moment then sighed.
"Hi, Cloven." He greeted the babbling baby who stared.
Before either of us could say anything else.
Cloven giggled.
I looked at my son who giggled reaching at Noah who stepped back now.
"Ah um, no thanks. I can't hold babies." He declined.
And sure enough.
It upset the baby because Cloven began to cry.
Soon enough the bedroom flew open and Carter came in.
"Why's he crying?" He asked walking over to us.
I pointed at Noah.
"Noah won't hold Cloven." I told him.
Noah grew red as Carter smirked softly.
"You won't break him, Noah." He said lifting our son up now, cradling the other who began to cry less and less after realizing who was holding him.
Cloven cooed staring at Carter now who smiled softly.
"You're really good at calming him down." I pointed out.
Carter smiled.
"Its a matter of how calm you are that'll calm him down, if you're upset. He'll be upset, he is half human after all. So he'll feel exactly what you're feeling, and either take it negatively or positively." He explained kissing Cloven's forehead before offering him to Noah now.
"Just act calm and Cloven won't get fussy." He told the fourteen year old who didn't look at all thrilled to be holding a baby.
But still.
Noah squeezed his eyes shut holding out his arms as Carter handed Cloven over to him.
Noah squinted before his eyes opened, realizing he was holding the baby.
He blinked a few times but then exhaled slowly as Cloven stared back at him.
I smiled softly watching the two.
----
"How long do I have to be in here?" Sage questioned inside of the cell, staring at Stella who rubbed her upper arm, frowning as she looked at the other.
"Not as long as Monty was, as you seen. You were brought in here without a fight, Joshua had to snap Monty's neck in order to lock him up." She told her.
Sage frowned.
"But you'll visit right?" She asked.
Stella smirked.
"Nope, I'm going to enjoy having my bed all to myself again." She teased.
Sage made a face as Stella smirked.
"I'm kidding, of course I'm going to visit. What kind of girlfriend would I be, if I didn't visit you?" She questioned.
Sage shrugged.
"I just feel like now that Cloven is born, everyone's attention is going to be on him." She stated.
Stella arched a brow.
"Well hes a baby, Sage. Of course attention will fall on him, but my attention will be focused on you and only you." She smiled.
Sage smiled softly.
"Its just day one of being locked up and I already feel like its been too long, I already want out Stella." She told her.
Stella frowned.
"Being locked up is going to mess with your mind, just don't panic. According to Joshua, Monty panicked a lot when he was down here and you will feel more alone than usual. But I won't leave you alone for long." Stella took her hand as she squeezed it.
"Tonight however, I will have to step away. Its the night that Deidre dies, and everyone is getting the wood up for her to be burned." She explained.
Sage blinked.
"Does Lexi know?" She asked.
Stella frowned.
"She does and she's okay with whats happening, her main focus right now is on Noah and Cloven." She told her.
Sage frowned.
"Who's killing Deidre?" She questioned.
Stella looked at her.
"Jace wants to be the one to set the fire on her, but Luther still hasn't decided on it." She frowned now.
"But everyone that was under Deidre's compulsion, will finally be free and no one will live in fear." She told her.
Sage looked at her.
"We will always live in fear, Stella. If humans find out of our existence, they'll come and try to kill us." She said now.
Stella shook her head.
"No, the humans won't pose a threat as long as no one exposes us, and if they do come here? We'll get rid of them like we would an enemy vampire." She said.
Sage bit her lip.
"So we'd kill them.." She murmured.
"Well yeah?" Stella arched a brow.
"Why would we let a human willingly kill us? Don't we deserve just as much a second life, as they would if they lucked out on death?" She asked her.
Sage looked at her.
"I guess so.." She said softly.
Stella smiled softly.
"I'm going to see about the preparations upstairs and to see if the guys need any help, I won't be gone for long." She promised pressing her lips to Sage's through the bars.
Sage smiled sadly with a nod.
"Hurry back.." She told her.
Stella nodded leaving the other.
----
It was still biting at me.
I wanted to confront Devin.
It wasn't my business.
But I had to know his reasons.
And as annoying as it may be.
He does owe at least someone the explanation.
"We still have time before tonight." Carter looked to me, I brought the guys with me mainly because they were just as curious.
But I was regretting Jace because he was a hot head.
And this could end badly on his part.
Especially if Nathan was present.
I nodded knocking on Devin's door.
I don't think I could blush harder seeing Nathan there with his hair pushed back, and his body dripping with sweat. He had nothing but a towel on.
His brow arched as Devin stood in the back, in just a t-shirt that I assumed belonged to Nathan.
"Its long past Halloween kids, come back next year." Nathan told us.
I glared.
"We need to talk to Devin." I told him.
Nathan looked at us.
"And if I say no?" He smirked down at me.
Joshua looked at him.
"Its regarding your little adventure Cole mentioned you two going on, if you don't want us to go to Luther-"
"You really want to piss me off, don't you Morris?" Nathan asked.
Joshua arched a brow with a smirk.
"I guess I do." He shrugged.
Nathan stepped forward before a arm outstretched across his chest.
Devin scowled seeing all of us.
"Get in here and keep your damn mouths shut." He said bitterly walking to his dresser as he pulled his jeans up.
"Someone is awfully comfortable." Joshua teased.
Nathan smirked his way.
"We were just wrapping up, until Lenny here interrupted. Again." He said.
I glared.
"My name is Lexi." I growled.
"Wait," Carter looked at him.
"What do you mean, again?" He asked.
Nathan blinked before his eyes fell on me.
This laugh came out of the other as he grinned.
"Well shit, you didn't even tell your own mate the trip you and I went on?" He asked.
I went to speak but Devin stepped in.
"Ignore this damn ass for a god damn moment, and just get out with what ever you're wanting to talk to me about." He said.
Nathan pursed his lips.
"Now look, you've done gone and pissed my toy off. Thanks-"
"Nathan!" Devin growled before his eyes fell on us.
"What is it?" He demanded.
I frowned deeply.
"Despite what Luther told you not to do, you still went and broke Kipper out of here. Didn't you?" I asked him.
Devin stood there, his brows knitted.
"Wha-"
"That's a bold assumption to make there, Lily." Nathan stepped up towering over me.
I could hear not only Carter but the other two growling behind me.
"And what happens if we tell you that your assumption was wrong? Would you drop to your knees here and apologize to Devin?" He asked taking the other by the shoulders.
"You have no proof that Devin broke Kipper out, if its slipped your tiny human brain, which I assume it has. There were other vampires besides him, that wanted Kipper out of here." He said.
I stood there frowning.
"Devin was the one that Luther left in charge of watching over Kipper, if he didn't do it. Who could of possibly broke him out of here?" I asked through gritted teeth.
Nathan exhaled sharply.
"You really are a stupid bitch-"
"Nathan!" Joshua growled at him.
Nathan glared at him as Joshua took a step back, which earned a smirk to appear on Nathan's face.
"Might I remind you idiots, that I am the only god damn vampire in this house, that can bind your will and break your limbs?" He stepped up and I couldn't breathe.
Jace grabbed the back of my shirt, ripping me back behind him.
The three stood there glaring at Nathan.
Nathan smirked at them.
"Don't come into mine or Devin's room, demanding bullshit explanations without actual proof." His eyes fell on me.
"That'll get you killed faster than anything." He said in warning.
I looked past him at Devin who didn't look the least bit sorry for the others temper.
He also looked pissed.
"Would you tell the truth to Monty?" I found myself asking.
"Don't drag our mate into this mess." Jace hissed.
Flinching at the sound of Nathan snapping his finger.
"You call it a mess and yet, there isn't a mess to see? So Jace." Nathan walked up to the other who looked like he could of possibly been shrinking.
"Where is the mess? I could only hope you're not referring to Devin as a mess? Because I don't mind hearing you scream." He said icily.
Jace stood there frozen but glared at him.
"I'm referring to the obvious fact that someone broke that kid out." He said bitterly.
Nathan smirked at him.
"Well how about that? Unlike Lacy over there, you didn't just point fingers at someone. You're saying it was someone, but you're unsure who." Nathan's hand fell on Jace's shoulder and I could see his hands shaking.
"So my favorite idiot in this room, who do you think broke the kid out?" He asked him.
Jace glared harshly at him.
"If it wasn't one of us, it had to be one of them." He said through gritted teeth.
His body was completely still as he frowned.
"No one could break in here, not with how everyone is on high alert, or they were. So they came in through that window." He stated.
Nathan's smirk grew wider.
"Look at the smart faggot go, of course someone broke in through the window. And only one vampire in particular would be insane enough to come back here." He said now.
"Abel?" I questioned quietly.
"Yes, Lainy that is who came here so remember that the next time you want to come into this room, and start pointing fingers." Nathan stood in front of me.
"Now, do me a favor. Lexi, and get the fuck out before I snap your neck and not think twice." He growled.
No one argued with that before Carter was ripping me out of the bedroom.
----
"Deidre Moon, back in the day you would be beheaded for the crimes you have committed. But tonight, you will burn until you are ash." Luther said out loud in the yard.
We all stood there, staring at the woman who remained tied to the poles.
Not resisting or even spouting out arguments.
She stood there staring at Luther with a blank expression.
"Can we end this pointless chatter and get on with my death? I would rather die now than continue hearing your lips moving." She stated.
Luther glared as I frowned.
Jace stepped up with the matches, glaring harshly at her.
"I will gladly shut you the fuck up for good." He told her.
Deidre smirked at him before her eyes fell on me.
My blood ran cold.
I watched her lips move, saying something for only me to hear.
I watched Jace drop the match on the hay and twigs, immediately taking over Deidre.
But as soon as the fire connected to her.
I felt something connect to me.
I let out a choking sound as blood came out of my mouth.
Carter's eyes fell on me as they grew wide.
My entire body froze up as my hands trembled looking down.
A stake.
Poking out of my chest, rested there.
I felt my knees buckle as most of everyone ran to me.
All I could see was Deidre's body burning.
And the feeling.
Of my heart coming to a stop.
