“Guess who got together! Guess, guess, guess!” Alex yelled, jumping and waving his arms around in the backstage room. I felt my cheeks heat up once again. I decided at this point I should stop being embarrassed about our relationship. I smiled at his excited reaction, extremely glad he was happy for us. When the people figured out it was Charlie and I, we were surrounded with congratulations and such.
Around eleven, we headed back to the hotel. Charlie and my hands had barely left each other’s the entire night. Back in the hotel, after changing into pajamas, I crawled into Charlie’s bed. Charlie was outside getting some snacks, and Alex was in the bathroom. I curled up my legs and tucked them under my chin, waiting for one of them to come back. I heard the shower turn on, so it seemed as though Charlie would be back first.
Sure enough, the door clicked and I snapped my head up. Charlie walked through with an armful of pretzels and chips for everyone. I grinned and said, “Delicious.” He dropped the bags on the table and took a bag of chips, then came over to join me in his bed. “Hello,” I said.
“Hey,” he said, squeezing his eyes shut to pull the bag open. It opened with a pop and he released his breath. He held it to me and I took one, though I wasn’t hungry. He took one for himself and then placed the bag down. We both nibbled on the edges of our chips, before I began laughing at how stupid we were being.
“Why are we forcing ourselves to eat?” I giggled, popping the rest of the chip in my mouth.
“I don’t know,” Charlie laughed, then copied me. We pushed the bag aside. “Alex can have them,” Charlie chuckled.
“I wonder what it would taste like…” I think myself.
“What?” Charlie asked, looking at me.
“Oh, did I say that out loud? I’m not used to having people around to hear my every thought,” I giggled.
“So what was it, then?” he asked, poking my leg.
“What was what?” I asked, trying to avoid the subject.
“What do you wonder what will taste like?” he grinned.
“Oh, um…” I smiled down at the comforter on the bed. “A kiss after eating chips.”
“Or a chip,” Charlie corrected me.
“Or two,” I corrected him, laughing. Then we were kissing again, for a few moments.
We pulled away and smiled at each other. “Mmm, salty,” Charlie joked.
“Yeah, yeah,” I rolled my eyes at him, then kissed him again. I heard a door open and broke away, startled. “Oh, Alex, I didn’t hear you get out of the shower,” I sighed at him. He was wearing a towel around his waist.
“I’m sorry I disturbed you,” he bit his lip.
I laughed and changed my position, propped the pillow on my bed up on the headboard and leaned against it. I patted the place next to me and Charlie accepted the seat, taking my hand. “That seat was for Alex!” I exclaimed, grinning at Charlie.
“Oh, sorry…wait, what?” he looked at me, confused out of his mind.
I laughed. “Dude, I’m kidding, not that I don’t like you Alex,” I giggled peering over and around Charlie.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it,” Alex laughed at us, grabbed his clothes, and disappeared back in the bathroom. Charlie grabbed the remote and flicked through the channels.
“I don’t get American television,” he complained. I took the remote and TV guide from him and found BBC America.
“Yes!” I exclaimed jumping in my seat, making Charlie cringe. “Doctor Who marathon,” I sang, dancing in my seat.
“Oh, god, we’ll be up all night!” Charlie laughed.
I glanced at the clock. “Lights off by one thirty, promise,” I smiled. After about fifteen minutes, Charlie started growing restless. “What’s wrong?” I asked.
“I dunno. Can’t focus,” he mumbled, climbing out of bed. He took his camera from his bag and came back to sit next to me. I clicked the mute button on the TV and leaned over his shoulder. “I’m just going through today’s footage,” he said, glancing at me.
“Cool, mind if I watch?” I asked.
“Nope,” he said, flipping through the videos. Then suddenly the camera was on me and the light told me it was recording. I glared at it with an annoyed expression.
“Charlie…” I muttered.
“What’s wrong, honey?” he said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.
“What’s the point of this?” I asked, swinging my legs around to be cross-legged and sighing.
“Hold,” he ordered me, shoving the camera in my face. I zoomed in on Alex, who had fallen asleep awhile ago, and giggled. I heard a snap which turned my attention back to Charlie - he had set up his tripod.
“Dude, what are you-” I started to say, but he stopped me by lunging into the bed and adjusting himself comfortably next to me and attaching the camera to the stand.
“Something BIG happened today!” Charlie exclaimed into the camera. I shot him a look.
“Are we seriously going to tell them NOW?” I asked, growing worried.
He smiled understandingly at me. “No, this video isn’t going up for two weeks. I can delete it by then, if for whatever reason…” he trailed off, not wanting to think about it.
“Okay, then,” I sighed and smiled half-heatedly at the camera. “This is my boyfriend, guys.” Then I sudden panic flowed through me and my eyes widened. I grabbed the comforter and threw it over my head, screaming, “PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!” I knew I would sound muffled, but I didn’t mind. Maybe I wouldn’t wake up Alex.
I felt something poking my head. “Aimee?” a muffled Charlie called. I peeked through the comforter. I saw he was trying with all his might not to laugh at me. “They aren’t going to kill you,” he chuckled, “right guys?”
“Yes, they are,” I complained.
“No, they’re not, because if they did, I would stop making videos.”
I gasped. “Don’t do that!” I cried, feeling guilty.
“There’d be no point,” he shrugged.
I thought about this than nodded. “I see you’re point, because this has a point,” I giggled. He seemed confused by my stupid joke. I poked him. Then I realized the camera was still on. “Uhm, BYE,” I squeaked, turning it off. Charlie was staring at me. “Okay, I’m tired now,” I said, not wanting to talk anymore, because obviously I was going insane. I gathered myself and slipped off his bed.
“Wait,” he called after me. “I’ll sleep on the cot, it looked awfully uncomfortable, it can’t be good for your back,” he offered.
I smiled. “Why bother?” He looked at me, confused. I waved my hand across the bed he was sitting on. “Fits two,” I giggled. He smiled and nodded, so I followed him under the covers. We faced each other, smiling slightly. “Goodnight, Charlie,” I whispered.
“I thought we were going to stop whispering,” he whispered back.
“You can see how well that worked out,” I grinned.
“Goodnight, Aimee,” he mumbled, closing his eyes.
“‘Night,” I giggled.
