You sighed as you waited outside the school for your father to pick you up. He was late, again. "Hey squirt!" You looked up to see your uncle Satori, and it would appear as though that he was your ride again. "Where's daddy?" "He's gonna be late with practice tonight so you're spending the night with me!" You tried to look excited, not wanting to make your uncle feel bad. But Tendou had been Shiratorizawa's guess blocker, so his intuition was right, half of the time. "What's wrong?" "Nothing, just long day at school." He didn't press the matter and you both got in the car heading to his house. "You know he loves you (y/n)." You looked at your uncle surprised that he knew right away. You see most four year olds in your class would get to spend time with their parents. But not you, you didn't have a mom; and your dad, Ushijima was a national volleyball player for Japan. Unfortunately, that meant he traveled a lot, so you were always with one of your uncles that had gone to school with your dad. But anyways, you figured your dad did this so he wouldn't have to put up with you anymore. You merely nodded silently, not wanting to keep talking about this. "What's for dinner?" "Rice and teriyaki chicken!" You guys got to his house where you set your stuff down in the guest room. You guys had dinner and you were sent to bed later on. About two hours later you got out of bed to get a drink of water. Your steps faltered however when you heard voices coming from downstairs uncle Satori and your dad's. "Ushiwaka you know I'm not one to pry...." (cough liar cough) "but I think that you should spend more time with your daughter I understand that volleyball is your job but so is taking care of your kid." "Tendou she's fine she's a big girl she understands that I have to be gone sometimes." "Sometimes?! You were gone almost two weeks in one time span! (y/n) may seem fine but I was talking to Semi and Reon and they both agree with me that you've been neglecting her she doesn't deserve that. She's only four, you don't see the disappointment on her face when she finds out that her father is gone somewhere else cause of his job." Wakatoshi looked very surprised by his friends' outburst, you always seemed to take it fine when he told you he had to leave for a game but then he really got to thinking. You did seem sad when he left and then it struck him like a volleyball to the face. Tendou was right when was the last time he actually spent time with you without it involving his job as well? What the hell kind of father was he? He sighed "You're right but how can I make it up to her?" "You could start by picking me up from school." Both males turned at the sound of your voice. You had decided to make yourself known you were standing at the bottom of the stairs and holding a stuffed eagle the one he got for you after you had said your first word (it had been birdie) your father came up to you and knelt down to your height. Tendou left the room to give you two some privacy. "Papa? I'm sorry for wrecking your life I promise I won't make you choose but obviously you love volleyball more than me." Your father felt shatter into a million pieces love volleyball more than you? Oh god what has he done? He brought you into his arms, holding you close "No (y/n) there is nothing and I mean nothing in this world that I love more than you you are my baby and I'm such a horrible father. I am so sorry for making you think like that." "Then why are you always gone? It can't be that hard to get some time off daddy, I just want you here." By now you were crying all of those feelings pent up in a four year old wasn't really all that healthy. Ushijima just sat on the step rubbing your back letting you cry on him. You eventually fell asleep, after placing you back to bed, your father took out his phone and made a call.....

The next morning

You woke up and yawned and smelled something good for breakfast. Running into the kitchen you stopped short as you saw your father cooking at the stove your uncle nowhere to be found. "Where uncle?" "He's out for awhile so it's just you and me." He set the food on the table before coming and picking you up " I thought this would be a start and I also wanted to tell you I took time off from work for two months." "Why?" "(y/n), you are my daughter, my babygirl and I dont ever want you to feel unloved ever again you are definitely more important to me than some sport." You had a huge smile on your face as you snuggled close to him something you hadn't been able to do in awhile. "I love you daddy." I love you babygirl never forget that."
