“Did you see the pictures of her after the fight?” He asked.

“No Dwayne sending them to me.” I giggled. “I’m sorry but Dwayne is the most ghetto person I know. He still got the hood in him. He need to come live over here. He fit in just perfectly.”

Diggy smiled and chewed on a piece of gum.

I walked to our bedroom closet and pulled out a small duffel bag. I opened it and dumped the cash on the bed. Diggy looked down at it and then at me.

“How long have you had this?” He asked.

“Since we moved in. My dad told me to spend it on myself and the baby but I wanted to spend it on something special.” I looked at all the money.

“And what’s that?”

“You.” He blushed.

“You don’t have to.” He replied.

“I want to. I want you to fully enjoy your day tomorrow. You always did these types of things for me. You wait for me to get my hair done at the salon; you take me shopping and out to eat just to make me happy. I want to do the same so let’s go.” I placed some of the money in my purse and put the rest back.

He helped me put on my jacket. I smiled and kissed him. Diggy locked up the house and we walked hand in hand to the downtown stores.

We came across a neighborhood Barbershop and I ruffled Diggy’s hair.

“Time for a haircut.” I kissed his forehead.

“I like my curl afro.” He laughed.

I shook my head no and we walked in. There was nothing but a bunch of men and boys. I sat in a chair and waited for Daniel to get his hair cut. It took the barber 30 minutes to cut his hair due to all of the distractions and him talking. When Diggy was finally finished and paid the barber. He smiled but it faded as he looked at my growing stomach.

“Yes I’m pregnant is there a problem?” I snapped.

“I’m tired of seeing you girls pregnant.” He cleaned his clippers.

“You girls? First of all I didn’t want to get pregnant. I’m not from even around here and second, I’m very intelligent and will be able to take care of my child alongside its father. How dare you judge a book by its cover; not all girls are alike.” I slammed the cash in his hand and dragged Diggy out the shop.

“Lauren.” He tried to put his arm around me.

“No Diggy. I’m upset. Just go into a store and get whatever you want. I need air.” I sat on a bench and gave Diggy my wallet but he didn’t budge on moving.

He instead sat next to me and held my hand. I turned to him and gave him an annoyed look.

“Free hugs?” He grinned.

I gave in and hugged him.

Diggy pulled me up and we continued walking to the stores. On the way we passed by Sarah’s pregnancy store. The pajamas Diggy bought me were still in the window.

“I still can’t believe you bought me that.” I smiled.

“It was expensive but you my queen so you deserve it.” Diggy caressed my chin.

“You’re sweet.”

“If this record deal turns out great I hope to buy you a lot more window items even if it doesn’t…I’ll still try.” He looked at the store once more before eyeing the sidewalk.
