Chapter 7
“Jace! What the hell! Let him go!” I shout and go to pull him away oy to be grabbed by Percy.
“Percy. Let. Me. Go.” I say in a hard tone feeling some strange surge of power and authority wash over me. Percy’s eyes go wide and he lets me go. I turn back to Jace and I see Ty and Blake trying to pull Jace of Chase. They are trying to pull his arms off Chase and I see my perfect opening and jump on Jace’s back like if he was giving me a piggy back ride.
“Jace, Let him go now,” I say in the same tone I talked to Percy in. Jace Head whipped back to mine and I see his eyes are glowing bright blue. He drops Chase and pulls me too him.
“Mine!” he says again and push his head in the crock of my neck.
‘Uh ok this is weird what the hell is wrong with him’ I think to myself.
“Uh can you please let go of me Jace,” I ask, “please you are kinda freaking me out here Jace.”
Jace lets me go but still keeps me close to him and has a hold on my hand.
“Jace you need to let Katarina go,” Blake says.
“He’s right Jace you need to let her go you’re scaring her,” Ty says.
Surprisingly this whole time I was never afraid of Jace, freaked out yes but not afraid. Somehow I knew he wasn’t going to hurt me I was more afraid of him hurting someone else. I turn around to face Jace and use my free hand to cares his cheek. He closes his eyes and leans into my hand
“Jace I don’t know what is going on but please let go of me. I know you would never hurt me but please let go. If you want to talk lets talk, but you need to calm down and let me go.” I say in that same hard voice.
Jace talks some deep breaths and finally opens his eyes. They are flickering from glowing bright blue to his normal deep sea blue. He lets go of my hand and steps away from me. Ty pulls me to him.
“Please keep her away from me,” Jace says turning from me.
“What?!” I say, “Jace you need to tell me what the hell just happened.” I say.
Jace turns around to me with a hard cold stare. “I do not have to tell you anything Katarina.” He says while stalking towards me.
“I think you do,” I say walking toward him to meet him. I stop when I am face to chest, damn my shortness, I look up at him, “First you’ve been ignoring me for almost a month, then you walk in here telling me to stay away from Blake and that I’m not safe, what the hell is with that? I am not some little girl that needs your protection, I can protect myself.” At this point I am looking up at him and we are almost chest to chest.
“Please Katarina I only want what’s best for you, and right now what is best for you is if I stay away from you.”
“How do you know that? How do you know that staying away from me is what is best. How do you that I’m not miserable without my best friend, without the person I turn to for everything, who’s always there when I need them to be, who protects me from everything except you. Out of everything you do for me you hurt me the most when you turn your back on me, what you think your protecting me your actually hurting me the most.” Tiers were in my eyes now and I just want leave. “So you want me to stay away, even if it hurts me than fine, ill stay away.” I turn around to Ty, “can you please take me home?” he nods, “ok I will meet you in the car.” I turn and walk out.
