Logan's POV
I fought to control my expression as Roman walked away from our table. We had set up the date for the next night
and I was beyond excited. Tomorrow would be Halloween, so I wouldn't have to stay home while I worked and got bothered by trick or treaters (not that I usually got many; I lived on the fortieth floor of my apartment building, so only the kids on my floor really came by). This year I'd get to go out to dinner in costume (we'd decided that costumes would be a fun way to celebrate), see a play, and walk home with the most handsome man that I'd ever had the opportunity to date! This would be a highly enjoyable Halloween.
"Awesome, now I can tell you about what I found." Thomas said enthusiastically as the door closed behind Roman.
I looked back at Thomas, a little confused as he scrolled through his laptop. Then I remembered that before Roman had showed up, Thomas had wanted to show me something on his laptop. I sighed. "Alright, fine. What did you find?"
He grinned as he looked up over the top. "Just proof that there are people with supernatural powers AND that they are from an alternate dimension."
I raised an eyebrow. "Proof, you say. Well, that is yet to be determined. What is it?"
He placed his hands in his lap and leaned forward. He looked like an excited puppy. "My friend, Talyn, heard about my theory and told me that their dad was a reporter, like, twenty years ago. Their dad is retired now, but had this experience that Talyn thought I'd be interested in hearing." He turned his laptop around and handed it to me. "I recorded the whole conversation and typed it out for you." He made a shooing motion with his hand once I took the laptop. "Go on, read it."
I gave him a skeptical look, but I set it down to read. I sipped my now cooled latte as I read.
Thomas: Alright, sir. Talyn tells me that you were a reporter 20 years ago, and that you had an unusual experience that the press didn't let you publish. Tell me about that.
Talyn's Father: Yes, that was a very frightening experience. I can hardly bear to speak about it.
T: Oh, well you don't have to-
TF: It was in the middle of the day, and I was walking out from a very successful interview with a drill company manager. That was a fascinating article btw, if you want to go look that up.
T: ....I'll be sure to do that.
TF: So, I was walking down the sidewalk, going to get lunch at my favorite deli. Excellent sandwiches, top notch coffee, a fudge shop attached, what's not to love. Yes, I can still taste the mint-
T: Tell me about what happened on the way there.
TF: Yes, right. As I was walking past an alleyway, a man and a woman ran out and almost ran into me. Naturally, I was disturbed by this and politely told them to watch where they're going.
(I rolled my eyes and wondered about the truthfulness of this story)
They completely ignored me as they ran past me. I remember thinking that they were very rude and that their clothes were very unusual. The woman wore an all black outfit with a black cloak lined with bright orange fabric. It was a quality garment that I found to be very lovely. The man, on the other hand, wore very drab country clothes in browns and blacks. It was very strange. But stranger still was what happened next.
T:Yes?
TF: A group of woman ran after them. They were dressed in all black as well, but their long capes faded to forest green at the tips. They all had their hair pulled back into ponytails. Or did they wear it down? Hmm. I don't remember. I just remember that they all had long hair.
