As we walked into is house I couldn't help but notice the giant staircase right as we walked in. Yes, I've been here before but that was the time I climbed into a window and got shoved into a closet. On the right side of the staircase, it looked like a path to a kitchen I thought. To the left was the big living room where his parents sat watching TV. Kyle started to walk over to his parents so I followed close behind. "Mom,Dad this is Dan. Can he stay over tonight?" His mom looked at me in shock almost. After a moment of silence his dad spoke."So Dan is real. Yeah, he can stay as long as he likes." I was confused on why he said this but before I could say anything Kyle rolls his eyes and pulls me up the staircase.

"So can I just ask why your dad said that I was real?"Kyle let out a big sigh and said, "at my last school everyone hated me and I got alone with no one because of how shy I was. So when I got home my parents would ask me if I made any friends yet. I had to make up someone to be my friend or they would try and make me more "likable."" "Wow sorry about that." As he lead me to his room his sister came running out of her own room and gave Kyle the biggest hug I've ever seen. "KYLE!" She was about five or so and wearing her pj's getting ready for bed I assumed.""Olivia hey! This is my friend Dan. "Hi Dan nice to meet you. Bye Kyle i'm going to Amanda's for a sleepover party!" "Alright have fun. Sorry that was my sister Olivia she can get a bit hyper sometimes." "it's fine Kyle I wish I had siblings."

As we entered his room I couldn't help but visualize the events of last night. The pills all over the floor,Kyle crying and shacking. He looked so, so lifeless. I tried to push the memory to the side and just spend time with Kyle. One of the first things I noticed that I didn't last night was a picture on his bedside table. His mom, dad, him and Olivia. But another girl was in the picture one I haven't seen or heard of yet. She had brown hair like Kyle But Olivia's blue eyes. I think I was obviously staring at the picture too long because Kyle started to look at it too.

"That was my sister, her name was Kayla. She died from cancer." "oh Kyle i'm sorry I didn't know." "I know you didn't It's the reason we moved here actually it was painful living in our house seeing her bed empty." "I know how you feel I had a baby brother that got sick and never made it home from the hospital. My parents couldn't look at me for a week because I reminded them of him." "Wow that's horrible. I'm sorry Dan." "it's fine really if you or your family ever need anything i'm here to help." "Thanks Dan that means a lot."
