The Thing Inside Me

Chapter 1

It all started on a day like any other day, sun shining bright and noises of New York filling the air. I had been to Earth before, but I didn't get to stay long. The people I was staying with grew scared of my powers, and cast me out of their home. I fled back into outer space, stopping on many planets over the years, finding similar results. Coming back to Earth brought back some bad memories, but it doesn't bother me to much. I have never been to a large city before, nevertheless the popular and busy New York. Everything was new to me, the sights, smells, noises, and people were all things I needed to get used too. And fast, so I don't look suspicious.

While walking down a busy street I stopped to look at a large building filled with people, while stopping a man walked right into me. He glared at me, "Watch where you're going!" he shouted into my face. "Oh, I'm sorry-" I started to say, "I didn't mean to cause any trouble." he looked at me and opened his mouth to speak again, he was cut off by a large sound: the street next to us had just burst open to reveal a dark green plant, it grew twenty feet within seconds! We both stood there watching it grow untill its vinelike branches stated waving a round violently. People stated to run in panic, the streets quickly turned into a chaotic running fest. I suddenly got swepted in the panicked crowd.

I ran with the screaming crowd untill I was pushed to the outside stream of people. I took up the opportunity to escape as I quickly ducked into a alleyway, I leaned on the side of a building to steady myself. After I caught my breath I started to exit the alley, suddenly a figure flew overhead in a rush. I dashed out of the alley, ducking as a vine swiped past my head. The plant was still rapidly growing! A man in red and blue was hovering above the plant, as it violently whipped its vines around. As I watched him battle the vine, I didn't notice a vine slithering across the ground toward me. It quickly wrapped itself around my ankle, and yanked me off the ground.

I screamed with the sudden motion of the vine. It whipped me around like I was nothing. I suddenly felt a anger deep inside me, an anger I didn't know was there. Then a dark aura exploded from my body. It was the deepest black I have ever seens (other than in my nightmares). The plant quickly turned black, and shriveled up. However, with all the sudden changes: the plant dropped me, and I was falling towards the ground at an accelerating rate. The man dressed in blue and red quickly caught me, and lowered me to the ground. "Are you all right?" he asked, "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." before he answered he turned to look at the plant. "No problem." he said while gently nudging the plant with his boot. It crumbled to ash as he touched it. He turned back to look at me, he opend his mouth to speak but quickly closed it. He turned his head to the left like he was listening for something. He looked at me again smiled, then took off in the direction he must have heard something. I watched as he flew over a building with a large box thing on the side of it. It was glowing and had people on it, it was a thing the humans call a T.V screen.

Thankfully my mind quickly adjusts to the way of most living species, much like a Earth computer when it gets an update. The people on the screen were talking about the plant thing that attacked me. "The plant is destroying buildings and citys all over the world!" the woman on the T.V said. The screen switched through many videos of similar plants smashing buildings. "Superheros all over are battling the plants." a man sitting next to the woman said. I need to find a way to stop this, people are getting hurt. I teleported to the nearest city, the plant here was very large. I ran towards it, jumping and ducking as its vines whipped around. I quickly got to the base of the plant, placed my hand on it. My vision turned to X-ray mode, I could see the roots of the plant under ground. I turned invisible so I couldn't be seen or followed and pushed off the ground to fly.

While soaring through the air I followed the roots for what seemed like forever. It lead me into a dark forest. I landed gracefully on the ground, keeping my invisible state. While walking, a invisible spacecraft flew over the forest. A weird wave frequency flooded the forest, making my head spin. The spacecraft soon came out of its camo mode, and was quickly losing altitude. It crashed into a deep lake in the distance, and was sinking rapidly. I could hear the people in side by shifting my senses to focus on hearing. The weren't panicking like I thought they would be, instead they were planing a escape route. I ran through the thick brush, jumping over fallen trees and roost that that reached up through the ground. The loud head splitting frequency rang out again, my head started to spin. I tripped over a broken branch, as I fell to the ground I could hear grunting and hard impact noises. The group had started fight whoever brought down their ship, and they sounded mad.
