Bruce put a firm hand on my shoulder, I pulled away from it. I stood up and turned to face him. I opened my mouth to yell at him but nothing came out, I clenched my fists at my side. Bruce looked around drawing my attention to out surroundings. We were surrounded by clouded white barrier some sort. Bruce picked up Sapphire's limp body and walked to the edge of the shield. It melted away into a ring of shiny white liquid. There were a few gasps as the barrier fell, I noticed members of the Justice League and Young Justice were gathered around us. Wally rushed over to me and embraced me in a tight hug. He was followed by Megan, Connor, Roy and Artemis. "Dude we thought you died." Wally sighed before releasing me. "Yah, that was quite a show." Artemis said as she crossed her arms over her chest. I looked past her towards Bruce as he gently placed Sapphire in the Batmobile. The team turned to follow my gaze, Megan placed her hand on my shoulder. "Whatever happened, it's not your fault." He said gently. I looked at her, "You guys didn't see what happened up there?" I quizzed.
They all shook their heads, "You and the beast came down in a cloud of smoke." Roy said blankly as he looked at Sapphire. "We aren't sure how Nightslash got here." Megan said quietly. Wally and I looked at each other, neither of us made a noise. Superman finished his conversation with other league members then came over to our silent group. "You can all go home." He said in a deep monotone voice. The group looked around at each other. "We want to know what happened first." Roy grumbled as he glared at Batman and the rest of the Justice League. "Answers will be given when they are found." Superman replied as he turned to walk away. "No!" Roy yelled, "Red, not now-" Artemis started, but Roy cut her off. "We aren't leaving without answers. Our friend just di..." his angry voice fell short as his emotions took over. Roy spun on his heal and walked passed me, he let out his emotions on a pile of rubble. Kicking rocks and bricks around angrily, he soon came to a stop and sank to his knees. A soft noise drew my attention away from him, Megan was now crying on Connor's shoulder. His arms wrapped around her as she sobbed.
The next few hours were a blur, we were all sent home to rest and heal. I spent most of my time in the gym waiting for Bruce to return home. My knuckles bruised from the repeated blows to my punching bag. Alfred tried many times to get me to take a break, but his efforts were cast aside by the pounding of my fists. Bruce walked in behind me I spun around to unleash my angry words but the look on his face silenced me. "There is... something you need to see." He said in a daze and handed me my coat. He left before I could say anything, I followed him out of the manor and into the limo. We arrived in the private wing of the hospital and entered a dark room, the light emitted from the machines outlined a silhouette on the bed. Bruce closed the door behind us before turning on the lights. I felt lightheaded as I stared at the girl on the bed. Her body was wrapped in bandages and casts. I walked towards her without hesitation, I took he hand in min gently.
"How?" Were the only words that could form on my tongue. Bruce shrugged, "She isn't human, there still is a lot we don't know about her." He said slowly. Bruce's eyes left mine, this normally calm and collect blue eyes were now clouded with concern. I followed his gaze to Sapphire's face, it was now wrinkled with pain. I let go of her hand and stood up quickly, her face relaxed and her eyes blinked open. I stared into her bright blue eyes, searching them for something. She looked at us confusedly, then she sighed and closed her eyes.
Sapphire POV
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, I opened my eyes again. They stared at me, they looked very confused. I slowly sat up, wincing in pain as it shot throughout my body. "I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt." I started to ramble, "I tried to make her stop. I just couldn't-" "Are you okay?" Bruce interrupted my pathetic rambling. I froze then nodded my head slowly. "Good, how do you feel?" He then questioned, "I feel fine Bruce." I reassured him. "I don't know what happened exactly, but thank you Sapphire." Dick chimed in. I looked over at him trying to figure out what he was talking about. His gaze left mine and Bruce spoke up. "You both fell from a great height, Dick walked away with a scratch. The amount of blood you lost and the damage you took in, we thought you had died." Bruce said stepping back to lean against the wall. I reached up and felt the think bandage on my head, I untied the knot and unwound it. "I didn't mean to cause anyone harm." I sighed. I folded the red and white bandage I'm my hands. The casts burned up and turned into ash. I checked my previously broken limbs.Dick picked up my chart and started to read it, "You practically broke all the major bones in your body, shattered back of your skull, multiple vertebrae in your spine, your arms and your legs." He bantered. "Yes, you definitely heal quickly." Bruce added. "I noticed." I said pushing my way up onto me feet. My legs wobbled and I lost my balance, I found myself sitting on the edge of the bed. I looked down at my legs. "Your still healing, you don't need to stand quite yet. Let your muscles catch up with your bones." Bruce said lowly, I looked up at him he met my gaze. His gaze softened and he strained his posture. He made his way over and took my hand, I gave him a small smile. His grip tightened slightly and he helped me onto my feet. "Thanks." I said kindly. "You were just going to do it when I left anyway." I nodded knowing what he said was true. He held my hand firmly until my legs stopped shaking.
After a while of stretching and talking, and obviously changing out of the tacky hospital garments. Bruce sent Dick home with their butler. "Sapphire, you can't stay here." His voice was low monotone again. "Until you get things sorted out your a threat to this world." I nodded slowly knowing he was right. "Superman said there was a far planted that is vacant and habitable. You can train there until you are ready to join the team again." He said stoically. I felt my body get warm as anger built up inside me, I tried to suppress it as I spoke. "You all ready made arrangements for me to leave?" I said bitterly, "It's just till you can control your powers and yourself. You will send messages of your progress monthly." He tried to say gently. My jaw tightened, I let all the tension go with a slow exhale. "When do I leave?" I questioned quietly. "Tonight." Bruce responded composed manner. I looked out the window at the setting sun, and said a silent goodbye to the only family I ever knew.
