The Thing Inside Me

Chapter 6

I don't know how, but Robin knew who I was. I thought I could hide who I was, but I was wrong. Next thing I know I'm on top of Mount Justice. Why am I here? I closed my eyes, I could feel my body start shake. Not now! " I'm not," She said confusedly, " I though your were doing it." She continued. "Well, I'm not." I snapped out of fear. My body started to shake violently, I fell onto my knees. "Your fighting it." She said, " Fighting what?" I said through clenched teeth. "Your instincts." She said almost sounding concerned. "If you fight it you could hurt us." She said trying to take control. "Fine, I'll try not to fight whatever I'm trying to do. Just let me stay in control." I said try to relax myself. "Fine." She said while she stopped fighting my control. I stopped fighting the shaking and when I opened my eyes I was inside the Young Justice base. And everyone was there, surrounding me. Great.

I stood up, and opened my mouth to speak. But an angry Superboy came charging towards me. I easily dodged by taking a small side step, and rotating my shoulders. Superboy picked himself up, and turned to face me. Artimis had an arrow fixed on my head. I wasn't bothered by her arrow or Superboy charging me, I was only focused on Robin. He seemed calm compared to the others, he just stood there starring at me. Stared back intently. A boom tube activated behind me and Batman walked in. The call computers said a number and his name, the computer had a large database full of names, current events, old events, and many mysteries. All the information I could ever want about Earth, and how humans interact with each other.

"What are you doing here?" Batman asked in a low voice. I glanced around the room, everyone was staring at me. They all looked tense, as if they would attack me at any moment. "I'm not sure." I answered turning to face Batman. He paused, we didn't think I would give him that answer. I could tell he was think, I could see the gears turning in his head. "Come here." He said motioning beside him. I calmly walked over, stopping when I reached his side. He made a swift and sudden movement. I only noticed what it was when I looked up. My hand had caught hit fist right before it hit my head. He pulled his hand away, "You have fast reflexes." He said walking way from me, he walked to the large computer. The started pressing buttons, until he was interrupted. "A sparing program? Your going to let her spar?" Robin shouted over top of the computer noises. "If you're so worried about it Robin, you can go first." Batman said turning to face us. Robin found but did as he was told, he walked out into the centre of a large circle. He stopped and turned to face me, I didn't know what to do. I looked up at Batman, he just watched quietly. I joined Robin in the centre of the circle. He adjusted his stance, moving his feet apart and bending his knees.

He lunged at me. I easily move so the side, he ducked passed me and turned sideways. His staph came towards me, I grabbed it and threw it over my head. Robin who was still holding onto the other end went with it. He hit the ground hard and tumbled across the ground. I adjusted my stance, sliding my foot across the ground in a circler motion till it was behind me. I bent my knees a little lowing myself. I raised my hands and a bright white staph appeared. I directed it at Robin. He shot up and directed his at me. He ran towards me, I took two steps and planted my staph into the ground, forcing me upwards and over his head. He ran below me our heads nearly touching as he went by. I landed behind him, dropping low to the ground in a crouch. I kicked out my leg and turned in a circle motion. Taking Robin's legs out from under him. He crashed to the ground. I stood up from my position, and approached him. I offered him my hand, extending it down to him. He sat up, and stared at me. He finally took my hand, and I helped him to his feet. "Nice move." He said a little embarrassed. "Thanks." I said as I watched my staph disappear out of my hand. "Well done, both of you." Batman said almost kindly. You will now spar with Kid Flash.

Sorry Wally, I already know this isn't going to end well for you. I thought as he exchanged places with Robin. He started to run around me, picking up speed each lap. I closed my eyes, focusing on my opponent. His movements, and their speed. My body started to feel different. It felt like electricity was coursing through my veins. I opened my eyes. Kid Flash was crating a whirlwind around me. It was slowly turning into a vacuum, sucking the air out of the atmosphere around me. I bent my knees, then straightened them launching me into the air and out of the whirlwind. I landed on the ground gracefully, Wally was now coming in my direction. I half stepped to the side and stuck out my foot. Wally tripped over it, and did about five summersaults till he came to a stop. I winced at the sight of him tumbling. He quickly got up and came at me again, this time I let him run into me. I planted my feet right before impact, making me more sturdy. Kid Flash hit me then bounced off like I was a brick wall. He stumbled backwards and landed on his butt. "Oww, not cool." He said standing up and tenderly rubbing his butt. "My turn." I  said while stepping into a quick pace. I easily out ran him, lapping circles around him. Making a whirlwind around him. However being the Protege of Flash means that he probably had to deal with a whirlwind before. He joined in with my whirlwind and escaped it with ease. "Sorry!" I yelled while raising my hand, "Wha-" Wally was cut off when he ran into my forcefield. He fell to the floor, "Hmmuhm." he mumbled while holding his head. "Sorry." I said while teleporting a bag of ice to my hand. I knelt down and held the ice pack to his forehead. I gave him an apologetic smile, hoping he would except it. He smiled back, "How did you do that?" He asked as I helped him up. "The forcefield?" I questioned. "I don't know, it just happens when I want it too." I answered. I helped him sit down in a chair near the computer. I looked up, curious to see what Batman thought of my sparing strategy. He had no expression, all he said was; "You will spar with Superboy next."

"No afence sir, but I'm getting tired and I haven't eaten in weeks. Could I just take on the rest of the team and leave?" I said stepping into the circle again. Batman paused then nodded quietly, the other members stepped into the circle. Aqualad (weak against fire), Mis Martian (also weak against fire, and no mach for my physic abilities), Artemis ( just a human, weak against anything), Superboy ( clone, weak against anything but mostly Kriptonight). They entered the circle and surrounded me, moving slowly in a ready position. I raised my hands slightly and the edge of the circle engulfed into flames, trapping my opponents. Their eyes widened slightly. Megan started to levitate in the air, and Artemis drew back her bow. I leaped into the air pausing as my body started to shake. Not now! "I'm not." She said annoyed. I trusted her, my body started to change rapidly in a dark could of smoke. I opened my mouth and a loud growl shot out, followed by a burst of fire. "Did she just turn into a dragon?" Wally shouted from the other side of the flames. I looked down at my now tiny opponents, they looked tariffed and shocked. But the got back into their ready positions. I smiled and roared again, game on.

Artemis fired an arrow at me, it bounced off my jet black scales. Something hard struck my chest winding me for a second, and throwing off my balance. I crashed to the ground, landing hard on my back. Superboy was on top of me, delivering painful blows to my stomach. I roared and swung a claw at him, sending him backwards in the direction of the fire. My eyes turned a glassy white as I used my telekinesis to stop him from burning in the deadly flames. I caught him just before he was near enough to get burned. Then my head started to pound, throwing off my concentration and I dropped Superboy. He landed close to Aqualad who helped him up. The Martian was somewhere, I sat up and looking around to find her. She had turned invisible and was using her physic abilities to mess with mine. My eyes turned a light green as shifted them to heat sensing mode. I could see her clear as day, I opened my mouth to deliver a fiery blast. It was quickly closed by a Superboy landing on top of it, Artemis and Aqualad used grappling hooks to get higher ground. They tied my mouth closed with a thick rope, roping it around several times. Clever, but I'm not done yet. I opened my wings and spun around in a half circle, my left wing struck the levitating Martian. The crashed to the ground, I used my telekinesis to undo the rope. I shook my body violently like a wild animal, shaking off the others. They all crashed to the floor. I picked up Aqualad and Artemis with my tail, Superboy with one claw and Miss Martian with the other. I placed them down in front of me, and held them there with my claws. I breathed heavily, why am I doing this? I'm going to hurt them! " Your letting your instincts take control." She said smiling. I opened my large jaws getting ready to deliver the final blow. No!
