Please be patient, this will be a long chapter about the setting and lore for those who want it, those that don't can skip to the next one which will contain story.

The House of Rhapsody is set in modern times. However, there are a few major differences. The first being that war on a global scale has ravaged the land. The second being the fact humans run the world with an iron fist more then ever before. The third, and final difference being that many supernaturals are barely clinging to whatever shred of existence or freedom they may still have.

Human soldiers raid homes on a nightly basis, which in turn has forced many underground. But even there is becoming unsafe these days as humans track down their intended targets. This left many of the great sanctuaries in ruins. Many houses and covens have perished over the years because of the near constant raids. Almost every human now carries weapons that are geared toward killing a supernatural.

Those weapons vary from silver to holy water, and even destructive weapons like flamethrowers. Whether such is small or carried around in the open doesn't seem to matter. While many have died in the wake of the global purging, many have either gone into hiding, or have begun to fight back. Loss is taken on both sides during minor scuffles to major city-wide destruction.

But there is still glimmers of hope. Despite how awful the global purging is, there are still strongholds where supernaturals still have a strong foothold in this world. One of those places is the House of Rhapsody. It is known by many supernaturals as a safe haven that welcomes every race, while repelling the hunters that seeks to destroy them. It is said to be located in the middle of a forest, while a human city is nearby. But the forest is said to be enchanted somehow that keeps most humans from entering, and stops all electronics from getting to close.

The Races

Within the House of Rhapsody, there exists many tomes regarding supernaturals. Records of their existence, listing some facts and possible mutations of such beings. These tomes are kept under the close watch by the Keeper of Records. The Assistant Keeper of Records is responsible for obtaining new information out in the field and relaying such to the former. Together, they help to keep track of all kinds of supernatural beings that roam and walk the war-scarred landscapes as well as the undergrounds.

To use such a tome would require permission from either of them, unless an Elder or the Head of House approves of such beforehand. Such records are a precious source of information that could be helpful. To access the list below, one merely needs to reach out for the tome (click the collapsible link for information). Put your reading glasses on if you need them. Some of the tomes may have a ton of information...

Vampires
Throughout the world's history there have been numerous mentions of "vampires" everywhere. Though until the last few decades, they were only rumors or known by few circles of other supernaturals. There are various types of vampires, and it is speculated that not everything is known about them despite all efforts in trying to discover all the facts. But that does not deter us record keepers from trying! Alas, there is only so much information regarding the supposed sleek creatures of the night.
