Ok, I'm pissed. At the world. Cuz nobody is doing shit about anything. The wildfires in Australia, combined with deforestation and drought, have now pushed Koalas to functional extinction. This means that they're in such low numbers, they no longer play a role in their ecosystem. Tigers are also functionally extinct. Don't believe me? Look it up.
There's also a program that keeps popping up on ads about this GLA Teen thing where teens can travel to places to help people or animals, whichever they chose, for 8-21 days. But it's like $2,000-6,000 to do depending on what you choose. I want to do it so bad and I brought it up to my mom and all she said was get a job. (I know, I sound mean here)
Like I feel powerless in this damn world. Nobody can do anything huge and life changing unless they have money. And enough of it.
Nothing is happening to change the state of our world and species are going to keep dying, and soon enough, us too. Nobody in power is doing much of anything because they're not worried about their future cuz it's not going to be affected. They are getting money, that's it. That's all that matters.
And get this, if our oceans die, (we get only a third of our oxygen from land plants), were gonna die too. There is not a place in the fucking ocean where there is no trash. Coral reefs are dying, leaving bleached skeletons behind. Ecosystems are collapsing. Algae and even jellyfish are over populating because of this shit and can invade areas and wipe out other species and/or make it impossible for people to fish for food. If we lose the oceans, we lose our existence as well.
We have the technology to create a greener world, to run on clean energy, we're just not fucking doing it, and even some who do, are doing it in secret because bigger corporations are going to shut them down. It is ridiculous that CHILDREN have to lead this charge. We're rising to become adults, and the adults are acting like children.
Yes, I am aware that things are being done in countries to combat climate change.
I feel so fucking powerless.
Most people would say "at least I had a good run."
