chapter fourteen

Dahyun ran inside the hospital, Haeun and Saki were with Nayeon and Jeongyeon, the two were taking them home in case something disastrous happened. It actually worked out okay. Dahyun was leaving for the first leg of his tour that night and the kids were set to stay with Nayeon and Jeongyeon for the night before Jeongyeon took them to Dahyun's parents house in the morning and Jeongyeon caught a flight to join him in London. He didn't want the two to see him at his worst. He wanted to be able to give them a big smile and tell them everything was okay.

They didn't even know what was happening. Dahyun didn't want to be the ones to tell them. He didn't even think they would understand. Instead he told them he and Sana both had an emergency meeting. He was surprised he was able to not break down crying.

Momo had sounded scattered over the phone. She didn't know what was wrong, she said one moment Sana was fine the next she was on the floor holding her stomach. Momo seemed scared. Dahyun was scared too.

It was too early for the baby to be born. Sana had just entered her seventh month. He was worried that stress had finally gotten the best of her and that they were going to lose their baby. He didn't want to loose his baby. He knew Sana didn't either. He knew she would gladly give up her own life for their baby's.  He didn't want to loose her either. He didn't want to loose either one.

Saki had sent him with one of the stuffed animals Jeongyeon's son had won for her. She told him it was for mommy, and for good luck in the meeting. The cheap stuffed tiger was tucked into his pocket. He hoped it would bring him luck.

"I'm here for Kim Sana." Dahyun told the receptionist.

"What is your relation to her?"

"I'm her husband, Kim Dahyun."

"She's in room 1224. Twelfth floor on the left." Dahyun nodded and took off in a sprint towards the elevator. Waiting in it felt like torture. Every second without Sana, without knowing what was happening, was maddening. He counted the seconds he was in the elevator. It was too many, in his opinion. He was at least alone in the elevator. Once he reached the floor he went off to the left and coughed the rooms until he reached Sana's. He opened the door and was met with Sana on the bed surrounded by two nurses and a doctor.

"I'm her husband what's going on?" Dahyun was not going to dance around the issue with pleasantries.

"She's in premature labor. We tried to stop it but it's too late. She also has low blood pressure and iron levels." The doctor explained. "We are performing tests to make sure the baby will be okay once they are born."

"Do you know how long it is going to take?" Dahyun asked.

"No, I'm estimating anywhere between twelve hours and twenty four hours." The doctor nodded. "I'll come check oil on her every hour. Right now we are giving her an IV. Do you know if your wife wants an epidural or c section?"

"She wants an epidural, but she does not want a c section." Dahyun nodded. "Do you know when she will wake up?"

"Any second now." The doctor nodded as he left the room, one of the nurses following him.

"Your first baby?" The nurse that stayed behind asked him as she pulled him a chair next to Sana.

"Third actually." Dahyun nodded. "The second one was also born early, but nowhere near this early."

"I wouldn't be too worried, I've seen plenty of babies this premature make it through just fine." The nurse nodded. "I'll stick around until she wakes up." Dahyun nodded and sat down, taking Sana's hand. He waited patiently for her to wake up. He help her hand in both of his and prayed.
