Annabeth's POV:
I sat, staring at the door Father had just walked through. I couldn't believe he was forbidding me to leave the palace without his permission, or that he was forcing me to marry one of the stuck up boys from the High Houses. I had been told that I would have a choice in marriage for as long as I could remember, and while I still did have a choice, Seaweed Brain wasn't one of them.
With a sigh, I made my way to the bathroom to take a long bath and cool down. When I walked out, Cal was laying on my bed. "Took you long enough," he said.
"It's called knocking Cal." I rolled my eyes and walked over to my desk where I kept my personal belongings stashed away in a drawer.
"I'm your brother, I shouldn't have to knock," Cal stated as he got off my bed. "Besides, you didn't answer when I did knock."
"What do you want?"
"Who is he?" He took a step closer to me.
"Who's who?" I asked.
"Your boyfriend," he exclaimed like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Who is he? What's his name? Is he a Red or a Silver?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I suddenly felt very exposed and vulnerable in front of Cal.
"Annabeth, you disappeared when you were seven and didn't return until last September. Furthermore, you looked like you wanted to strangle Father tonight when he announced Princestrial at dinner."
I hesitated. "You have to swear on the River Styx that you won't tell anyone what is spoken in this room tonight." Cal looked at me in utter confusion.
"What's the riv-?"
"Don't ask questions," I snapped.
"Can't I just swear on my colors?"
"No." As if to emphasize my point, the candle on my desktop flickered to life in a green flame of geek fire. The threat was clear as day, both Cal and Maven knew that my flames weren't normal and that they could harm burners.
"The River Styx?" I nodded. "Fine, I swear on the River Styx that I won't tell anyone what is spoken in this room tonight." Thunder shook the walls of my room.
"His name is Perseus Jackson," I said. "But he prefers to be called Percy or Supreme Lord of the Bathroom. He's a Red and he lives in Archeon."
"How old is he?"
"He's 15, almost 16." I glared at Cal, daring him to ask for any more information on Percy. He didn't take the hint.
"Supreme Lord of the Bathroom?" His bronze eyes glittered with amusement.
"A nickname he obtained when he was 12 after he accidentally made the pipes of the girls' bathroom explode at our camp," I stated. A smile played on my lips at the thought of the memory.
"I thought you said he was a Red."
"I didn't say how he made the pipes explode."
"Fair point." Cal hesitated for a while before asking, "What does he look like?"
I leaned forward in my seat. "You got the answers you wanted, now leave so I can get some sleep." He nodded and turned to leave in silence. When I heard the door click shut behind him, I opened the top left drawer of my desk and pulled out a golden drachma, and walked into the bathroom. I turned on the water, letting it go down the drain of the bathtub, and grabbed the stand that held a flashlight and prism from the corner of the room. Once the flashlight was turned on, I tossed the golden drachma into the rainbow in the mist created from the bathwater.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering. Show me Percy Jackson." The mist shimmered and a picture of Percy sitting on his bedroom floor reviewing the battle plans for the attack on the Princess Andromeda appeared before me. "Hey Seaweed Brain."
His head shot up from the papers. "Hey Wise Girl. Did you get the birthday gift I sent you?"
I laughed and lifted the coral charm on my necklace for him to see. "Yes, I did. It's very beautiful."
"Glad you like it. Nice dress by the way," he pointed out. I looked down and realized that I had accidentally put my dress from the evening's dinner back on after my bath.
"Yeah, it was a birthday gift from Julian." It was actually a dress that had belonged to his late sister, but it wasn't like I could decline the gift.
"Julian gave you a birthday gift? The Julian who's still bitter about his sister's death gave you a birthday gift?" Percy asked in disbelief. Before I ran away, Julian had never even bothered to acknowledge my birthday, let alone give me a gift. But since Father dragged me back to the palace in September, Julian and I had become friends, bonding over our love for books and learning.
"Well, let's just say I've gained his respect."
"Ah."
"Listen, Percy, there's something I need to tell you." He frowned in concern.
"What is it? What's wrong?" I told him everything about how my father was forcing me into an arranged marriage and how we couldn't run away together because Father had forbidden me from leaving without his permission. By the time I was done, tears were trailing down my cheeks.
"Hey, we'll figure this out," he said gently. "You said that you work at the palace as a guard, right? Well, I'll just get a job at the palace."
"It's not that simple Seaweed Brain," I said.
"Can't you use your hat to sneak out?"
I shook my head. "It would attract too much attention if a door opened on its own."
"Well, I'll figure out a way. I'm not letting you go that easily. Until then, we'll communicate through Iris messages, ok?"
I nodded, "Goodnight Seaweed Brain."
"'Night Wise Girl."

Percy's POV:
I stood in the shadows of an alleyway waiting for my friend, Rachel Dare, to come. Rachel was a mortal who could see through the mist. She had officially earned my respect when she threw a blue plastic hairbrush at Kronos's eye last year in the Labyrinth. She was also an apprentice for some Silver lady who owned an art shop in Archeon. I hoped that she could help me get a job in the palace so that I could see Annabeth.
Instead of Rachel, I was met by two Silver guards and a Red palace maid. I studied the guards, neither had grey eyes. Neither was Annabeth.
"Mr. Jackson your presence has been requested at the Hall of the Sun," the Red maid said. It took me a moment to realize that she was talking about the royal family's home in Summerton and not some shrine dedicated to Apollo. Good, I don't have to listen to Apollo's haikus.
"Why? Am I in trouble?"
The maid smiled at me, "No, you've simply been offered a job there." Well, that was easier than I thought it would be. I nodded and followed her to a transport which took us to a runway with a jet waiting for us. I sent a silent prayer to Zeus, asking him not to strike me out of the sky.
When we landed the maid, whose name I found out was Wren, led me to another transport, which took us to the palace. Once there, I was given a uniform and put to work to serve the Silver nobles in a place called the Spiral Garden.
